LONGUEUIL, QC, CANADA, May 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) Pyradia engineers are completing the installation of two preheating furnaces for Ma'aden's Ras Al Khair (formerly Ras Az Zawr) aluminum smelter project in Saudi Arabia.
The scrap-alloy preheating furnaces will be installed in the cast house and be used for heating magnesium alloys or scrap to 150°C (302°F) at a rate of 7 tons per hour before being added to new aluminum in the melting furnaces.
The furnaces, which are insulated with 6 inches of mineral fiber and equipped with low-density Incoloy-sheathed tubular elements, are over 5 meters (16.4 feet) wide and 2 meters (6.5 feet) high. The smelter, located adjacent to the alumina refinery, is expected to have an annual rated production of 740,000 tons of aluminum.
