According to the Department of Health, a quarter of the UK population has low levels of vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 can be naturally obtained through exposure to sunlight and from foods such as oily fish, eggs, fortified fat spreads and some fortified breakfast cereals. However, it can be difficult to get enough from sunlight and food alone, many GPs recommend a daily vitamin D3 supplement to populations at risk of deficiency.
