Switch Vehicles, A Different Kind of EV Company Promoting Education and EV Awareness
2013-06-04
ROHNERT PARK, CA, June 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) In 2011 we formed Switch Vehicles, Inc. (http://SwitchVehicles.com). Our goal is to build sporty, fun, affordable electric vehicles that most people can afford. So we designed the Switch. Switch is a 3 wheel vehicle that meets all of our criteria. Licensed as a motorcycle Switch has the added benefit of traveling in the high occupancy (carpool) lane even with only one passenger.

"If we want things to stay the same, there are going to have to be some changes made."

Switch has a wide front wheelbase and balanced weight distribution to offer a very stable, smooth ride. We have designs for 1, 2, 3 and 4 passengers depending on the needs of the owner. We have left, center and right hand drive options, Standard, Moon Buggy and Pickup/Utility vehicle configurations. All three of the current designs use the same chassis to simplify the manufacturing process.

Education Is A Strong Driver In Our Business Model

Another of our business goals is apparent with our education products. We developed a college level curriculum while an instructor at our local community college where I taught a course on how to convert cars to electric. The curriculum teaches high school and college students about the history and components of electric vehicles and how to properly convert cars to electric. The 17 week lesson plan includes lectures, tests and training for the instructors. We have a one week training program for instructors in the course material and the building of an electric vehicle. During the one week training students (teachers, DIY'ers and our dealers) actually work together to build a Switch.

Our overall corporate goal is to remove barriers to electric vehicle construction and ownership. To that end we offer Switch as part of the curriculum, schools can purchase our course complete with a Switch chassis, batteries and all EV components including video step by step instructions. The goal is to have a class build an electric vehicle, from the ground up in less than a semester. We know it works because our pilot schools have all completed construction of the vehicles in one semester. The only training the instructors had prior to teaching the program was our one week class.

Do It Yourself!!

We are also offering Switch in kits to the DIY market place. Kit one sells for $9,750 and comes complete with all the necessary components and instructions to build a rolling chassis. Complete with lights, brakes, dashboard, instrumentation, seats, windscreen and pre-assembled and terminated wiring harnesses. All you or your assembler need to do is follow the directions and attach the wires where instructed. Once you have your roller ready you can purchase the motor and battery kits or source your own.

We plan to sell tooling, train builders across the country and world, (we have interest already) license the technology and promote the concept of "Build Local". We want to support local craftsmen building vehicles for their region with local support and local options designed by local builders for their communities.

Switch Vehicles is entering the production stage. With the completion of our final pre-production Switch and the creation of several of our jigs for building the front beam, swing arm and chassis we are poised to receive orders.

Study offers proof that texting and teen driving is prevalent

2013-06-04
A recent study on distracted driving is potential new proof that texting while driving in the United States remains a serious problem--particularly for teens. The study showed that teens are texting behind the wheel and actually admit to the behavior. While the results don't quite reveal whether teens realize their actions are dangerous and lead to car accidents, it did show proof that more is needed to combat the growing problem of texting behind the wheel. The study The study looked at information from the 2011 U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's ...

Texting and driving still a problem after Georgia ban

2013-06-04
Cell phones have become an intricate part of our lives and if you go anywhere in Dekalb County, you are likely to see many people talking on their phones, texting, and even watching videos or answering emails. However, when you combine texting with driving, the chance of becoming involved in a car accident is 23 times more likely according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The danger that texting presents Despite educational and law enforcement efforts, some people do not believe texting is that dangerous of an activity. Studies have shown, however, ...

Proposal seeks lower alcohol limit for Ohio OVI/DUI

2013-06-04
Last month, the National Transportation Safety Board came out with a recommendation to lower the minimum blood alcohol content (BAC) level, at which a person is considered to be legally under the influence of alcohol, thereby changing the definition of a drunk driver. The agency argued that the current .08 BAC is too high and advocates for lowering it to .05 to reduce the number of accidents. While the federal agency can make such a broad recommendation, each state will need to change its own laws and this generally takes many years. In Ohio, the current blood alcohol ...

New Florida red-light camera law changes how motorists contest tickets

2013-06-04
Approaching an intersection as the light turns yellow always requires a split second decision. Is there enough time to make it through the light or not? The length of the yellow may differ between intersections and cities, such as Daytona Beach and Tampa. In some cases, it is more dangerous to slam on the brakes and stop especially on fast moving roads. If the light turns red before your vehicle clears the intersection, it could mean a red-light camera citation. An investigation by a Tampa CBS news affiliate WTSP found that cities and counties across the state have actually ...

Psychologist argues biological makeup big reason behind life of crime

2013-06-04
When it comes to the propensity to commit crimes, many people assume that it is an individual's life circumstances that cause him or her to commit a violent crime. So it makes sense for those convicted of crimes to be "rehabilitated" so they can be productive members of society after they complete their jail sentences or probationary terms, right? An author of a new book entitled: The Anatomy of Violence, The Biological Roots of Crime, isn't so sure. The contents of his recent book have sparked a public discussion about the nature versus nurture debate and ...

Learning more about Texas prenuptial agreements

2013-06-04
The prenuptial agreement is one of the most debated legal documents in use today. The controversy comes not from the agreements themselves, but from how people perceive them. Some people see them as powerful tools that can be used to protect both spouses from future contention by taking key property division issues off the table. Others view them in a much less altruistic light, painting these types of contracts as being responsible for the death of a couple's romantic love before the marriage begins, and even as "dooming" a marriage to failure. The reality The ...

NTSB recommendation to lower BAC to .05 met with stringent pushback

2013-06-04
A startling recommendation by the National Transportation Safety Board, the federal government agency in charge of investigating transportation accidents, has gained widespread attention among U.S. drivers. Earlier this month, the board recommended that states use a .05 BAC threshold for DUI, down from the current .08 BAC measurement implemented by all 50 states. Reasons behind the proposal The obvious reason behind the push is drunk driving prevention. The agency indicates that thousands of lives are lost every year as a result of DUI. As alleged proof, they cite ...

Wet Seal agrees to settle employment class-action lawsuit

2013-06-04
California-based retailer Wet Seal has agreed to settle an employment class-action lawsuit alleging racial discrimination for $7.5 million dollars. The success of the plaintiffs' claim shows how class-action lawsuits can help individuals work together to make a greater impact than they could alone. Lawsuit says Wet Seal committed racial discrimination The lawsuit was filed in California federal court in 2012, and it accused Wet Seal of discriminating against employees based on their race. The Los Angeles Times reports that the lawsuit claimed that company executives ...

Distracted driving affects everyone in Fayette County

2013-06-04
Many people spend a great deal of time in their car nowadays and as a result, they tend to treat their vehicle as an extension of their home or office. However, such behavior can be unsafe since it takes attention away from road. When distractions behind the wheel occur, the likelihood of a car accident grows, putting drivers and others at risk. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 3,000 people were killed because of distracted driving in 2011. That same year, Fayette County reported 2,760 crashes; it is unknown how many of those accidents ...

Surviving the legalities of a car accident in Kansas City

2013-06-04
Everyone dreads the tell-tale sound of screeching brakes because it often means that someone is about to be involved in a car accident. According to the most recent statistics available from the Kansas Department of Transportation, there were more than 10,000 accidents reported in Johnson County alone. Almost 3,000 people were injured in those accidents and 20 people suffered fatal injuries. Because a motor vehicle accident can occur at any time, it is important to remain calm and remember that there are several things that you need to do in order to put your best legal ...
