Allstate Glory Days 'Legends of the '85 Chicago Bears' Reunion

On Friday, November 5, 2010, Coach Mike Ditka and the 1985 Super Bowl winning team will be together again.

2010-11-03
ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, FL, November 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) The '85 Bears team will reunite this Friday for a memorable party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Chicago's Super Bowl XX win.

Coach Mike Ditka and the boys will swap the hallowed turf of Soldier Field for the Arie Crown Theater and come together to entertain their fans and re-live that historic year.

The official reunion, the Allstate GLORY DAYS Legends of the Chicago Bears 25th Anniversary, begins with a breakfast club meeting Friday morning between Coach Mike Ditka and Coach Buddy Ryan. It is the first time the two will be side-by-side in years and gives a chance for the legendary coaches to catch up before the main event. Comic and entertainer Tom Dreesen will bring the two football greats together for the breakfast and later host the official reunion show.

ESPN Radio 1000 will broadcast live from the lobby area outside the Arie Crown Theater to capture the evening event preparations and fan build-up to the big show.

To kick-off the start of the show, members of the 1985 Chicago Bears team will line-up in the lobby and parade down the Allstate blue carpet into the theater allowing excited fans the chance to salute their heroes. The show, Allstate Glory Days Legends of the '85 Chicago Bears, will be a fast-paced mix of laughter and high emotion as the Bears recount never-before-heard stories on stage.

Master of Ceremonies Tom Dreesen will charm the crowd as the official host. Dreesen was on the plane when the '85 Bears flew back from Louisiana and he will have his own stories and his view of events to share. NBC 5's Mike Adamle will join Dreeson as his co-host throughout the evening. Chicagoan crooner John Vincent and the band 7th Heaven will entertain the audience.

NBC5 Chicago is the media partner for Glory Days and will be airing television specials in December on NBC 5 and Chicago Nonstop.

Mike Ditka said, "It's a chance for us all to come together for one last time. I can't see us doing this again in another 25 years! Each player has his own unique stories and this really is a great chance to tell fans what went on that year. This team is full of characters and we will have a few messages and surprises in store for the audience." Ditka finished with "Be there or I'll be disappointed!"

Appearances Can Be Deceiving in Sleep Apnea Cases: Even Athletes are at Risk
2010-11-03
A recent article on the Men's Health website told a cautionary tale of a man named Tom Zehmisch. He died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 46. Only four months earlier, he had participated in a national swim meet and he died while participating in a triathlon. To look at Tom, you would not have thought him to be at risk of obstructive sleep apnea. The stereotypical obstructive sleep apnea patient is more like Don Dillard who, in 2007 had reached a staggering 401 pounds on the scale. He had been hospitalized four times for serious health problems including congestive ...

Possible new drug targets for the genetic disorder Noonan syndrome

Noonan syndrome is a relatively common genetic disorder characterized by short stature, unique facial features, and heart defects. About 10%-15% of affected individuals have mutations in their SOS1 gene. A team of researchers, led by Raju Kucherlapati, at Harvard Medical School, Boston, has now generated mice expressing a Sos1 mutation associated with Noonan syndrome and used them to identify potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of individuals with Noonan syndrome. Specifically, the team found that the Ras/MAPK signaling pathway as well as the Rac and Stat3 proteins ...

What happens after traumatic brain injury occurs?

2010-11-02
Reston, Va.— Results from a study published in the November issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM) show that powerful imaging techniques––positron emission tomography (PET) fused with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)––are helping researchers better understand the long-term functional and structural changes that take place after traumatic brain injury (TBI). "The results provide new insights into the progressive nature of the brain changes occurring following TBI, demonstrating that changes in brain structure and function after TBI are dynamic and continue to progress ...
