LAS VEGAS, NV, November 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) We are excited to announce the release of the new VIO POV.HD helmet camera. VIO took the world by storm with their innovative POV1 helmet cam a few years ago and they now make their first foray into the HD helmet camera market with the VIO POV.HD. This new product has a host of new features including:
Native 1080p resolution
VIO are the first company to release a native 1080p HD helmet cam which is pretty exciting. For non video geeks out there, native 1080p video means that the camera uses a full 1920 x 1080 (progressive) sensor. Other HD cameras such as the GoPro/Contour/Drift use a 1280 x 960 sensor - they create 1920 x 1080 video by cropping the image and then upscaling it which is why these cameras have a reduced field of view and reduced clarity in 1080p mode. The VIO POV.HD feeds the information from its 1080p sensor into a Texas Instrument Da Vinci processor that performs real-time video enhancement for lens distortion (fish-eye), vignetting (reduced brightness/saturation around edges) and lens softness. The reason for the larger bevel on the camera head is they are using a proper 6-element glass HD lens. All of these elements combined point to the VIO POV.HD producing absolutely stunning HD video.
In Field Editing
The original POV1 and 1.5 allowed you to "tag" your videos while recording (using the remote control or recording unit), which acted like a bookmark for you to later find the highlights of your day. While good in theory, it required you to use the POV Manager software which was terrible to say the least. VIO have taken the tag function and expanded it so that you can compile all your tagged scenes into one continuous clip directly on the recording unit. Anyone who has spent hours trawling through footage looking for the days highlights will see the massive potential in this feature.
Overall
All of the features that were popular with the POV1.5 carry over to the POV.HD - color screen for playback and alignment, 4 x AA battery power (always easy to replace), waterproof and dustproof design, carry case included and remote control (although range for this was poor; should be fixed for the POV.HD). A lot of people felt the only thing letting the POV1.5 down was the lack of HD video. Now that that has been addressed it looks like VIO are well and truly back in the game.
Price and Availability
In Australia the VIO POV.HD will be available for AU$795.
In Canada the VIO POV.HD will be available for CA$649.
In USA the VIO POV.HD will be available for US$599.
The VIO POV.HD will be available from all Launch stores from approximately November 15th 2010.

Tarps Plus Helps Philippine Storm Victims with Tarps
2010-11-03
Heavy rainstorms have been taking the entire world by storm. There are storms in the Philippines that have left people completely homeless and without nothing at all. The leading U.S. tarp supplier Tarps Plus sent tarps to the stricken area but much more is needed. Those who are preparing for seasonal thunder and rain storms should look into canvas or poly tarps right away.
The fact that poly tarps and some canvas tarps are waterproof is one of the greatest aspects that can be found. When those storms hit, there could be many leaks on the roof that have yet to be discovered. ...
Medical Marijuana in Nursing Homes
2010-11-03
Although the elderly account for only 12.7 percent of the nationwide population, they consume roughly a third of total prescription medications and about 40 percent of all over-the-counter medicine, according to a 2006 study in Clinical Geriatrics. Side effects from taking large amounts of powerful pills many nursing home residents consume can be severe, and sometimes even constitute significant cases of nursing home abuse because of overmedication and lack of real treatment leading to injuries such as bed sores.
Families of those in nursing homes may discover the quantity ...
Living Trust Scams Targeting Elderly and Vulnerable Arizonans
2010-11-03
The Attorney General of Arizona, Terry Goddard, has issued an official notice to people across the state to be on the lookout for unscrupulous salespeople offering do-it-yourself living trust kits that are oftentimes both unnecessary and financially risky. At an average of $1,500 apiece, this is a very lucrative con for the scammers and a big loss for the victims.
The high volume of such living trust-type products has led the Attorney General's office to deem them "mills," a name indicative of a cookie-cutter approach that is focused on just pumping out sales. They have ...
Major Whistleblower Case Proceeds in Philadelphia Federal Court
2010-11-03
A whistleblower lawsuit filed in 2005 by former employees against Wyeth Pharmaceuticals of New Jersey (which was subsequently purchased by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer) has been joined by the U.S. Justice Department. The suit alleges violations under the False Claims Act and could result in a judgment against Pfizer in the hundreds of millions of dollars due to inappropriate billing of public health programs and other wrongdoing. The government's entry into the action suggests that significantly larger consequences may be at stake for the drug company.

Foreclosure Mix Up Causes Borrower to Consider Bankruptcy
2010-11-03
A San Antonio man profiled in a recent WOAI-TV segment has experienced a bizarre path to the foreclosure process. Roque De Leon claims that his original $35,000 mortgage, secured in 2002, multiplied tenfold when Chase purchased the mortgage from Washington Mutual in 2008 and somehow tacked a zero on the end of his account balance. "Chase started rejecting my $350/month payments, and demanded $2,000 per month," De Leon explained through a translating friend. Before the confusion had been cleared up, the bank initiated foreclosure proceedings and he was at risk of losing ...
Proposed DWI Reform: Eliminate Strict .08 BAC
2010-11-03
In 2008, there were approximately 90,066 drunk driving arrests in Texas. Like many states, this only accounts for individuals with an illegal .08 or higher blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) level. However, some lawmakers and police officers indicate that this hard and fast rule doesn't always indicate the driver's correct intoxication level and that regulations should focus more on impairment rather than the uniform .08 blood concentration.
A woman weighing 140 pounds may reach a blood-alcohol content of .07 with two drinks in one hour; a man weighing 200 pounds may ...
Workplace Bullying
2010-11-03
We have heard of the schoolyard bully, the neighborhood bully, of bullies stealing lunch money. But workplace bullies? Doesn't bullying only happen to children? Adults outgrow such behavior and deal with each other in a rational and reasonable fashion, don't we?
Maybe not. A recent blog article dealing with healthcare raises the topic of workplace bullying. The author, a former bureau chief for the New York Times, points to a study that found "35 percent of the American workforce had been bullied at work, and another 15 percent had witnessed it."
The health concern ...
