Green Practice Business Participates in World Environment Day Celebrations

WALES, ENGLAND, June 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) Thousands of companies, charities and individuals across the globe took part in World Environment Day celebrations on June, 5. Among them was the multiple award winning, professional leadership and management training company, Call of the Wild.

Established in 1998, the forward thinking Call of the Wild, understands that the future is important and have worked hard to ensure their business is environmentally friendly. Their commitment to green business practice was recognised in November 2012 when the company received a Level 2 Green Dragon Award for their dedication to sustainable operation.

The official World Environment Day celebrations took place in Mongolia this year. The focus of the day was dedicated to the reduction of food waste. It's estimated that over 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted every year, an amount significant enough to feed the 870 million people who go hungry every day. In the UK alone the amount of food waste reaches around 15 million tonnes per year, with households being the biggest culprit generating over 7 million tonnes each year.

Speaking about their contribution, Call of the Wild Director, Mark Soanes said, "A large part of our work involves looking towards the future and we believe it is vital that we protect the environment. At Call of the Wild we carry out several green practices to help minimise our carbon footprint. We pride ourselves on some of the solutions we've introduced in terms of recycling, implementing water saving devices, using bio-fuel for vehicles and planting about 2,000 deciduous trees.

"We envision a future where all companies carry out environmentally friendly practices and hope that World Environment Day helped make this a reality. Our business plan places emphasis on corporate social responsibilities - giving back to the planet and our community. As part of this plan we are currently considering solar panels to generate energy to supplement that generated by our air source heat pumps," added Mr Soanes.

World Environment Day is designed to help people make informed decisions about environmental concerns by having a day dedicated to the awareness of current situations. The current consumption and waste rate is the highest it has ever been and without continued changes made by people and companies, like Call of the Wild, the future looks bleak.
