When couples choose to hold their wedding at his facility, Roger Igo The Bell Tower on 34th Street owner, helps them to make it an unforgettable event. He also helps them to plan within their budget. As a recent article in The Huffington Post points out, couples are often hit with unexpected and hidden fees that can result in spending more than they planned. When couples start planning their wedding and evaluating their budget, they often think about the most obvious expenses. They plan for the venue, the dress, flowers, food, and beverages. What they don't take into consideration are all of the other little things. More elaborate decorations, favors, and fancy place settings can all cost extra. When signing any contracts, couples should make sure that they have a clear understanding of what they are agreeing to.
Some venues charge extra for cutting the cake when a couple brings their own. When they make the cake or a provider they contract with is used, there is not typically a fee. If they cut a cake that is brought in from somewhere else, some locations are known to charge as much as $3 per slice. Couples might find that it is more cost effective to simply use the services the venue provides to have their cake made. "We never charge a fee for cake cutting," assures Roger Igo, The Bell Tower. "It is a service that we are happy to provide, as couples should be able to have the cake of their choice."
Another hidden cost that couples may find is in renting tables, chairs, and place settings. The venue does not always provide these in the rental cost for the space. Or, they may offer a very basic selection. If a more upscale look is preferred, it will come at a higher cost. For some couples, they are willing to pay more for it to fit with their decor or theme.
When sending heavy or oddly shaped invitations, postage may cost more. And don't forget the stamp for the RSVP envelope, and the cost of printing inserts. Having a wedding dress altered is another fee. Many people don't fit perfectly into the sample size, and having it altered is not included in the original price. If the bride decides to do a trial run on hair and makeup to go with her gown, that is often another charge. Some salons will charge a discount rate for these services, but others do not. Putting everything on a credit card may seem like a good idea at the time, but interest rates can stack up too.
"Hidden or unexpected costs can catch couples by surprise," confirms Roger Igo, The Bell Tower owner. "We make sure when planning with couples that they understand everything that is included with their contract. When booking a Ballroom and menu, we include tables, chairs, linens, China, flatware, and stemware, as well as the necessary staff. We want couples to feel confident and stress-free when it comes to their big day, so we do everything we can to make the process as simple as possible. We will also work within their budget to keep costs down while still providing high quality service." Roger Igo, The Bell Tower, also notes that brides receive complimentary use of the Bridal Salon as part of their package.
