Foxtail Fest Announces Dedication to Wilmington

The Foxtail Fest is the premier music festival of Delaware, and has dedicated itself to the uplifting of its own city, Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, DE, February 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) The Foxtail Fest is a genre hopping music festival crossing between hip hop, electronica, indie and beyond. It attracts thousands of attendees from across the globe and offers an electrifying and positive experience for all who attend, but it still remains dedicated to its home town of Wilmington Delaware.

The Foxtail Fest was developed by Brandon Potter and Geoff Vanover, both recent graduates of Saint Joseph's University (class of oh '12), both founders of What Scene? music and marketing management along Curtis Matthias. Clearly the young age of these men make this a youth built event. A youth event for the youth. Certainly the youth are taking over Wilmington and what better slogan for the young generation of today than "Positive Party"? The whole of Foxtail Fest was based on the idea of a positive party. Everyone would be happy. No assholes no buzzkill, just youth celebrating the future, and strangely it worked, most likely because it was founded by these young men, and run by their peers. There was no striving for profit. No looking for record deals. This festival was a creation of passion, and all the bands involved were passionate artists as well, learning their trade in the basements and bedrooms of Wilmington, and through example teaching others that it doesn't take a record contract or a perfect voice to make an artist, just an instrument and an intent. The first Foxtail Fest was attended by thousands of people, and all of them saw the power of independent music. Now, many are in their bedroom right now learning a guitar or Ableton busing in the new generation.

The Foxtail Fest is also dedicated to promoting the small businesses of Wilmington, inviting over thirty five businesses to participate in the Foxtail Fest Flea Market, which was run alongside the festival. "We planned the event partly around how it would help the city," said Brandon Potter, "We knew we wanted good music, and we knew we wanted to make the event as green as we could, but we also knew we wanted to help Wilmington, which has given us the perfect venue for the show. So, we planned an event that supported local businesses. We just hope it's enough."

The festival has also dedicated itself to being a green and sustainable venue. They have offered only recyclable containers, and have clearly labeled recycling bins across the festival. Foxtail Fest has also asked all attendees and bands to act in a sustainable manner. Beyond this, the festival has teamed with In Ticket to offer a plant a tree option when purchasing tickets. "Planting trees just seemed like the right thing to do," said Foxtail Fest event planner, Brandon Potter, "The city of Wilmington has given us so much, and we felt we wanted to give back. We knew we wanted to promote a social consciousness for people coming to the show, and planting trees just seemed like a good place to start."
