2014-03-07
ARLINGTON, TX, March 07, 2014 (Press-News.org) Demilec, Inc. was recently named a Top 20 Distributor of Graco parts and equipment in North America for 2013. Specializing in Polyurethane foam and coatings, Demilec stocks and distributes Graco proportioners, pumps and replacement parts and serves the spray foam and coatings industry with over 30 field representatives across the US and Canada. Spray foam contractors have grown to rely on Demilec's expertise and Graco's top quality parts and equipment to keep their spray rigs well equipped and well maintained.

Demilec has manufactured foam and coating materials since 1987 with high quality closed-cell and open-cell spray foams, polyurea coatings, memory and flexible foam plus hundreds of specialized polyurethane products. Demilec continues to expand with new facilities, people and innovative products and now sells in dozens of countries on five continents.

Since 1926, Graco, Inc. has been a leading manufacturer of fluid handling equipment. Graco has developed equipment for construction, manufacturing, processing and maintenance industries, focusing on fluid handling, pumps, and spray products. Graco even has equipment for sports field marking, allowing sports teams to decorate and line their fields with ease and simplicity, and has developed products as simple as tomato paste applicators for pizzas.

Graco's history started from humble beginnings. Russell Gray, then a parking lot attendant in the 1920s, was troubled by the fact that lubricating car parts was a difficult endeavor, especially on colder days when the grease wouldn't budge. He and his brother, Leil, developed a grease gun that was powered by air pressure rather than manpower, and from that point on Graco kept on growing.

Graco aims to continue serving manufacturers, processors, construction crews, and other important industries worldwide through its partnership with distribution companies like Demilec.

Activity more than location affects perception of quakes

2014-03-07
Scientists rely on the public's reporting of ground shaking to characterize the intensity of ground motion produced by an earthquake. How accurate and reliable are those perceptions? A new study by Italian researchers suggests that a person's activity at the time of the quake influences their perception of shaking more than their location. Whether a person is at rest or walking plays a greater role in their perception of ground motion than whether they were asleep on the first or sixth floor of a building. People in motion had the worst perception. "People are like ...

Traffic-related air pollution associated with changes in right ventricular structure and function

Exposure to high levels of traffic-related air pollution is associated with changes in the right ventricle of the heart that may contribute to the known connection between air pollution exposure and heart disease, according to a new study. "Although the link between traffic-related air pollution and left ventricular hypertrophy, heart failure, and cardiovascular death is established, the effects of traffic-related air pollution on the right ventricle have not been well studied," said lead author Peter Leary, MD, MS, of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. ...

Urbanization exposes French cities to greater seismic risk

2014-03-07
French researchers have looked into data mining to develop a method for extracting information on the vulnerability of cities in regions of moderate risk, creating a proxy for assessing the probable resilience of buildings and infrastructure despite incomplete seismic inventories of buildings. The research exposes significant vulnerability in regions that have experienced an "explosion of urbanization." "Considering that the seismic hazard is stable in time, we observe that the seismic risk comes from the rapid development of urbanization, which places at the same site ...

The findings by researchers from USF and other institutions were presented in a scientific poster at the Miami Breast Cancer Conference, ...

How seeing the same GP helps your health

Researchers from the University of Bristol will share their findings with health practitioners and researchers at the South West Society for Academic Primary Care (SW SAPC) meeting today [07 March]. Seeing the same GP is thought to be important in ensuring quality of patient care, as the doctor will have better knowledge of the patient's ...
