AUSTIN, TX, March 07, 2014 (Press-News.org) Audio specialist Sennheiser announced that it will participate on a panel entitled 'What Does the Future Sound Like?' on Monday, March 10th, from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center. The panel, which is being hosted by Sound Lounge, will include audio experts including Scott Persson, Audio Engineer, Sound Lounge; Roberto Baibich, Founder, Awful Code; Geir Skaaden, SVP of Production and Platforms, DTS; and Veronique Larcher, Director of Research, North America, Sennheiser. The panel, which will be broadcast to attendees using Sennheiser wireless headphone technology, will explore fast-evolving 3D audio technology and the ways in which it is changing how we produce and con-sume our digital content.
What: What Does the Future Sound Like? panel
Where: Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St., Next Stage EH 3/4
When: Monday, March 10th, 4:45-5:45 p.m.
3D Audio represents a new frontier for the audio post-production industry that allows for the placement of sound, output through headphones, within a hypothetical, three-dimensional space, including 'behind,' 'above' and 'below,' creating a 3D listening experience. Consumer content and applications including music, audiobooks and amusement park attractions have already leveraged 3D audio. This panel will explore the potential impact that 3D audio will have on creative content of the future.
During the panel, some of the topics that will be addressed will include:
• How can sound be creatively manipulated to create a 3D experience?
• What are the creative choices that can be made during the mixing process?
• What can we learn about the way sound is captured in 3D?
• How is the 3D listening experience different? How can these simulated 3D environments be applied to user experience, from a programming/developer perspective?
• What does this mean for the future user/consumer experience in audio?
Ms. Larcher holds a Ph.D. on the topic of 3D audio and leads Sennheiser's Strategic Innovation office in San Francisco, the company's think tank conducting experiments with disruptive digital audio technologies.
