L.A. Cline Finishes Lucky Leprechaun in Time for St. Patrick's Day

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, March 14, 2014 (Press-News.org) Every Artist must have an undeniable inspiration to start creating. The beginning spark is everything. If a painting takes months to create, that spark must have a very strong connection to the Artist. L.A. Cline's legacy paintings are time consuming. The layering of pastel pigments take time. These layers develop the vivid colors and depth, which give each painting its own realistic quality.

For L.A. Cline, art is everywhere. Art can be found in even street performers. They work daily at their craft to make someone smile. Since Leprechauns are such fun characters, the Artist decided that a Leprechaun would be a great character for a painting. "The 'Lucky Leprechaun' is out there all the time tempting you with his dance-like pose, mischievous smile and pot of gold. If you look hard you might even find a four leaf clover!" exudes L.A. Cline.

The journey to create and paint this painting was a long one, because the Artist was not sure what the background should be or how to develop the pathway. For lack of a better word, L.A. Cline was Stuck. Getting Stuck on a painting, is not what an Artist wants to go through. Even though the best plans are laid out, somehow things change from the original ideas for the background or the face. Nobody talks about getting stuck on paintings. What is an artist to do? Though, L.A. Cline was helpful in her description of the step by step process artists go through for inspiration in such times.

The first thing this Artist does is get away from the painting and try to get into something else, restock supplies or do things that need to be done. In other words, clear the head.

Eventually the artist will have to figure out how to finish the painting on the easel. Cline suggests using the internet and researching the project being created, reading books or looking at pictures to help reach out and find what will finish the painting. This type of mental block happens in every type of occupation. "Keeping calm is the key and if you have someone to confide in then perhaps that will also help you come to that final conclusion," sums up L.A. Cline.

After taking time and researching Leprechauns, the Artist found out they avoid humans and fairies as much as possible. They guard their pot of gold which is the currency the fairies pay for the Leprechauns to make their
shoes. They live far away from cities and towns. They are shifty and can change from their normal height to a miniscule size to keep their identity hidden. For this reason, L.A. Cline blended the background with the same greens as the Leprechaun's clothing and used green clovers to represent what we think of as the Leprechaun symbol for "Good Luck." The clothing of Leprechauns generally take on the style of the 1800's. This Pastel Painting is a special glimpse of a 'Lucky Leprechaun' that is ready to delight you and then disappear as you walk away.

"Whenever you have trouble finishing your art I always remember all great Artists have gone through this and many masterpieces have been created because of this special time of reflection," finishes L.A. Cline. The ideas might not come right away, though when one looks beyond themselves and takes the piece step by step, the piece is that much closer toward completion. L.A. Cline hopes to use this trying period as advice to help other artists struggling with ideas to complete their paintings. The ideas that finish the piece come at the most unexpected times. Continue through the process and do not give up. The piece will come to life right before your eyes.
