Dr. Jansson has spent her career fighting disease and working to improve the quality of life for patients with chronic autoimmune diseases. After nearly two decades working in the biotechnology industry, she has developed an expertise in immunology and inflammation research. One year ago, Dr. Jansson brought her knowledge and experience to Apitope International NV, a biotechnology company that develops antigen-specific therapeutic peptides for the treatment of allergy and autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, Graves' disease, Uveitis, and more. As a research director, Dr. Jansson has used her expertise to take on an impressive number of responsibilites. She manages the business development of the company, meets with investors and works to create new collaborative opportunities. She also directs science experiments and monitors the development of product innovation.
After starting out in academia, Dr. Jansson earned a Doctor of Medical Science in 1994. She then went on to spend five years studying at Lund University in Sweden. Her transition to biotechnology began when she was headhunted for an associate director position at AstraZeneca. She remained with the company for 13 years, focusing on different areas, such as respiration and inflammation, gastroenterology, and neuroscience.
Throughout her career, Dr. Jansson's achievements have been recognized by multiple organizations, including Worldwide Branding and the Society for Neuroscience. Looking back, she sites her dedication, enthusiasm and positive outlook as the foundation for her success. She also credits her ability to communicate the significance of her data to people outside of the scientific fields. In the future, Dr. Jansson intends to expand her contacts and build relationships internationally.
