Copper Canyon Academy is a residential treatment school that provides a positive and nurturing environment for adolescent girls who suffer from maladies such as eating disorders and substance abuse problems. To provide a holistic healing environment for adolescent girls struggling with these issues, Copper Canyon Academy provides a variety of extracurricular activities that individuals can be involved in.

This is why Copper Canyon Academy is pleased to announce that many Copper Canyon Academy students are participating in the Adopt-a-Highway Program. The Adopt-a-Highway Program is for individuals interested in helping keep roadsides clean and neat. Particularly in Arizona, there is a great deal of natural beauty to be protected. Copper Canyon Academy students are doing their part to keep roadsides clear of trash and debris.

"Participating in the Adopt-a-Highway Program has been extremely fun and informative," a student is quoted as saying. "It has allowed me to get outside and enjoy fresh air while keeping my community and the nature around me clean."

Copper Canyon Academy takes an individual approach to each student. It is understood by Copper Canyon Academy that no single therapy is going to help all students. This is why Copper Canyon Academy offers a variety of different activities for students to be involved in. Activities like the Adopt-a-Highway Program help get students involved in the community and the land around them. This provides additional levels of connectivity that can hasten healing.

One of the biggest problems that teenage girls all around the world struggle with is having feelings of isolation. For individuals who are addicted to substances or exhibit behavior problems, these feelings can be even more powerful. This is why Copper Canyon Academy is pleased to offer its students a variety of different activities including competitive sports, acting and other forms of art as well as multiple volunteering opportunities. Copper Canyon Academy students have also worked at soup kitchens, gone hiking, and participated in a number of other activities.

"Many people mistakenly believe that therapy simply consists of sitting on a couch in a room and talking about your problems to another person," a Copper Canyon Academy representative explained. "Nothing could be further from the truth. At Copper Canyon Academy, we work hard to provide therapy through multiple means. One of the most powerful forms of therapy is giving individuals the opportunity to find connection and meaningfulness in the world around them. Working with programs like Adopt-a-Highway is just one example of providing a means for that connectivity."

Multiple experts on child welfare say teenagers who are involved with volunteering in the world around them are more well-adjusted and develop a keen sense of empathy as well as the necessary tools to relate to others. Copper Canyon Academy looks to provide its students with a wealth of resources to help them live fulfilled and happy lives as adults. Copper Canyon Academy is located in a scenic Arizona valley and provides services to students between grades 7 and 12.
