CLEVELAND, OH, April 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) On the heels of the 2014 Tony Awards, The Inn at Honey Run will celebrate local theater with two nights of performances by Ohio-based theatrical touring company A Portable Theatre (APT). On consecutive evenings, June 9 and 10, APT will present two acclaimed plays from their summer tour: "The Duck Variations" and "Pierce to the Soul". The Inn at Honey Run is offering a two-night lodging package that includes admission to both plays.
This will be the first time that The Inn at Honey Run has ever hosted live theater. "The intimate character of our inn will carry over to these plays in a wonderful way," says Jason Nies, Proprietor of The Inn at Honey Run. "The small audience will have a chance to become close with the actors, both during the performance and question-and-answer sessions following the shows. That kind of relationship is a rare experience for lovers of theater, and one we think our guests will enjoy."
A Portable Theatre's productions are designed with a tour-first focus, creating shows that can be performed in a wide variety of spaces. By partnering with local organizations, businesses and venues, APT makes professional theater accessible to a range of audiences and communities throughout Ohio.
"The Duck Variations," (June 9, 2014) starring Jonathan Putnam and Geoffrey Nelson, tells the story of a two elderly men, whose chance encounter in the park quickly turns a comic battle of wits. In fourteen short scenes--or "variations"--they verbally spar over topics ranging from the government and outer space, to mortality and the majestic life of the duck. Chiquita Mullins Lee's "Pierce to the Soul" (June 10, 2014) is a one-person play about the life of an Ohio legend: folk-artist Elijah Pierce. This 75-minute one-act play stars Alan Bomar Jones and was nominated for the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artistic Excellence Award.
Both performances are open to the public and admission is $45 per person per night. Theater-lovers wishing to spend the night can take advantage of The Inn at Honey Run's Theatrical Getaway package for two including two nights' lodging, tickets to both performances and daily breakfast in Tarragon Restaurant starting at $398. Limited to 30 packages.
Reservations can be made online at http://www.innathoneyrun.com/packages or by calling 330-674-0011.
