Napa Area Plastic Surgery Practice Seeing More Male Patients
2010-12-12
SANTA ROSA, CA, December 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) Dr. Heather Furnas and Dr. Francisco Canales of Plastic Surgery Associates (www.enhanceyourimage.com) have noticed an increase in male patients at their Napa area plastic surgery practice. With non-invasive treatments such as Fraxel for common conditions such as aging and sun damage, more men are becoming interested in improving their appearance.

"While a large portion of our patients continue to be women, lately we have been noticing that more men are coming to our practice," says Dr. Furnas. "This may be because more men are caring about their appearance, or that there are more minimally invasive procedures being offered. Less invasive treatments are less of a commitment and make it easier for our male patients to see if they like the benefits a cosmetic treatment can provide."

At Plastic Surgery Associates, Drs. Canales and Furnas offer cosmetic services including breast enhancement, facial sculpting, and body contouring procedures. Those interested in a Napa area tummy tuck can improve the appearance of their abdominal region, and also enhance their overall body contour. Plastic Surgery Associates also offers medical spa services, helping patients combat the appearance of skin aging.

Dr. Canales says, "Both men and women have the option of easily rejuvenating and refreshing their appearance. With advances in both plastic surgery procedures as well as minimally invasive approaches, cosmetic enhancement has become easier than ever. Men who are thinking about a facelift or liposuction in Marin, Sonoma or Napa should feel comfortable taking the next step and coming in for a consultation."

One procedure that's sure to become popular among both men and women is Ultherapy Skin Tightening, a non-surgical way to tighten the skin and promote collagen growth. It is considered a non-surgical facelift, as it can tighten and tone the skin for a lifted appearance. The treatment only takes around 30 minutes, and patients are able to return to work immediately after.

"I've seen many men benefit greatly from Ultherapy," adds Dr. Canales. "It is extremely helpful for loose, lax skin. The best part about this treatment is that it allows your body to regenerate collagen immediately after the treatment. We look forward to helping all of our patients achieve the look they've always wanted."

Drs. Heather Furnas and Francisco Canales at Plastic Surgery Associates of Santa Rosa (www.enhanceyourimage.com) are board-certified plastic surgeons performing a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Heather Furnas graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine and completed a six-year residency in plastic surgery from Stanford University. Dr. Canales received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford University in 1982, completed his plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Hospital. They are both board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and have been performing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures such for Santa Rosa and Napa area breast augmentation, body contouring, and facial rejuvenation for patients since 1992.

Long Island Private Investigators, ICORP Investigations, Investigate Workers Compensation Claims
2010-12-12
Workers' compensation can be an incredibly expensive cost for a company. Essentially, workers' compensation amounts to paying an employee who was injured on the job for not working. Though most of us agree on the need to compensate workers who are unable to work as a result of an accident, it is also important to make certain that these employees are legitimately injured. Paying for a worker who is faking or exaggerating the extent of an injury, just to receive pay without work, can be a difficult cost for a company to bear. In these economic times, and the difficult recession ...

More Support for Electronic Medical Recordkeeping

2010-12-12
Patients: There's more good news about electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR), the digitalized system that records, analyzes and tracks a vast array of medical and hospital processes. A recent Pfizer-sponsored study finds that when patients suffer adverse events from prescription drugs, EMRs may report the mishaps faster and more accurately than when they use existing methods. Some observers suspect, however, that the new technology may turn out to be more hype than help. For one thing, the study sample was both tiny -- 26 Boston physicians -- and brief, covering ...

Dealing with Defects: Product Recalls and Product Liability Suits

2010-12-12
It seems we hear about them every day: a product recall from an auto manufacturer. Another recall from the maker of a baby crib. An over-the-counter drug. A child's car seat. Tainted meat. So many products are recalled, in fact, the federal government set up a web site, www.recalls.gov, just to keep the public up-to-date. But according to a July 2010 Washington Post article, people are getting "recall fatigue" -- they hear about so many recalls that they start to ignore them. According to the story, a recent survey found more than 10 percent of those surveyed had knowingly ...

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for assuring employers provide safe and healthy workplaces for employees. The agency recently released an inspection plan focusing on high-hazard worksites where injuries and illnesses are most prone to occur. The Site-Specific Targeting (SST) program takes the lead on inspecting non-construction worksites with 40 workers or more. The plan is based on data from a 2009 OSHA survey on work-related injury and illness given to roughly 80,000 businesses in high-hazard industries. Workplaces in areas such ...

Debt and Higher Education

2010-12-12
For decades, government sponsored student loans have helped pave the way for millions to get a college education. Following graduation, the loans are repaid over a period of time, and usually with relatively little difficulty. But as tuition has increased in recent years to never-before-seen levels, and interest rates followed with it, and the economy tanked, many former students are finding it impossible to repay their loans. Many graduates have turned to bankruptcy to eliminate credit card balances and other types of debt, but these same graduates cannot expect to wash ...
