OLNEY, MD, September 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Olney Chamber of Commerce announces the return of its annual Community Night, the oldest business expo in Montgomery County. Now in its 31st year, Community Night features a business expo of 100+ companies and non-profit organizations and the Taste of Olney where the area's premier restaurants present their tasty offerings.
The event is scheduled for 5 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Longwood Community Center, 19035 Georgia Ave., Brookeville, 1.5 miles north of Route 108. Admission is free.
"Community Night is the Olney Chamber's signature event, there's something for everyone to enjoy," says Robyn Quinter, president of Quinter Design and event co-chair. "It's a cost-effective opportunity for businesses, restaurants, agencies and non-profits to market themselves to the area's affluent residents."
Community Night attendance has grown significantly in the past few years. Last year, Maryland-National Capital Park Police estimated nearly 3,000 residents enjoyed the delicious food, displays and exhibits, raffles, door prizes, silent auction and children's activities.
New at this year's Community Night will be collection of food and financial donations to help re-stock the shelves of Olney Help, a local food pantry. Attendees are asked to bring donations of canned goods and shelf-stable foods, such as powdered milk, rice, pasta and cereal. For more than 40 years, Olney Help has provided food and emergency assistance to local families and individuals.
Businesses or organizations interested in reserving exhibit space at Commmunity Night should contact the Olney Chamber at 301-774-7117 or chamber@olneymd.org. Deadline for registrations is Friday, Sept. 17.
