ATLANTA, GA, January 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) The real estate market is seeing a spike in home improvements due to a growing number of families looking to renovate their homes. However, the kind of renovation that is being done goes well beyond the average retiling of the bathroom and repainting of the walls. More and more families are, quite literally, extending their homes with an additional screen room, patio enclosure or porch addition.
With the United States Census recording over 600,000 home extensions in the form of a porch, a screen room or a patio enclosure, more homeowners are looking to maximize the value of their property by contracting worthwhile additions and improvements to their home. The number of home extensions recorded by the United States Census weighs in to be more than half of the 1.2 million single-family homes built in early 2000s.
This growing trend of adding a screen room, patio enclosure or porch addition to already built houses appears to be a result, ironically, of the real estate collapse earlier in the decade.
"Despite the market bouncing back, families are still reluctant to invest in new homes," says real estate analyst Martha Brighton. "The market is still into recovery, and families are being wiser about their savings. Instead of gambling on a new home, most families are playing safe by improving on what they already have."
Brighton sees the trend as a very smart move amongst homeowners. With the real-estate market slowly bouncing back from the recession, property values are slowly normalizing to a level that buyers, and sellers, will be comfortable to enter the market for. The addition of a screen room or patio enclosure, she reiterates, can only add value to the property of any homeowner.
Improvements such as a screen room or a patio enclosure are appearing to be a popular choice for many home owners. The increase in space; and the added aesthetic has been a big draw for growing families with an ever changing home life. Even childless couples have opened their doors to screen room and patio enclosure improvements in the anticipation of guests, and future children.
The increasing interest in home improvements has become a boon for contractors offering quality home improvements services. Contractors such as the Atlanta-based Mosquito Curtains Inc. have become a prime supplier of custom-made mosquito and insect netting curtains that are a removable alternative to permanent screening. Used in most screen room and patio enclosure improvements, Mosquito Curtains Inc. has also seen an increase in sales of its insect repellant screens due to its quality and versatile design.
And as more homeowners continue to make these smart improvements to their home, the real estate market can only expect to bounce back in stronger numbers in the coming years.
Mosquito Curtains Inc. is a family-owned business that came about from a love of sharing quality time with friends and family outdoors. Based in Atlanta Georgia, we offer affordable, high-quality, custom-made mosquito & insect netting curtains as a removable alternative to permanent screening.
