Telepathx Launches First Wireless Telco Based M2M Platform for Building Smart Cities

Disruptive M2M Platform Targets Energy, Consumers, Government and Emergency Management

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, January 11, 2011

Telepathx the Melbourne based M2M Smart Grid developer announced today that it will launch Karnack a new knowing all, sensing all disruptive M2M technology platform for wireless Telecommunication companies.

The Karnack operating system (OS) said Company Chairman and CEO James Eades is the first turn key cloud computing 'Smart Cities' solution available and will allow cellular networks operators to deliver smarter, safer and more efficient communities at the state and local level the day it's installed.

Rich with ready to deploy applications, sensory and cellular gateways (Access Points) the platform will allow the Telco's to deliver a real cost effective smart grid solution to energy providers. This will now allow energy companies to manage and pinpoint transmission and distribution assets for faults and conditions faster, thus reducing the time needed to find and restore power outages.

This is an area of considerable focus said Eades, the self managing reactive RFID sensory devices developed for this market cover the four main components of asset management, fuses, transformers, conductors and insulators, it is a complete asset and outage management system unlike any other with real benefits.

Other applications developed allow government and emergency management officials to detect, map, and simulate grass and forest fires, floods, oil spills and air born toxins and pollution, track assets, all in real time virtual 3d satellite imaging similar using Google Earth or there own digital maps and GIS data.

The platform and software will allow governments to remotely gauge the severity of tsunamis or the ebbing and flowing of flood levels. Pinpointing a grass fire before it gets out of control is a huge benefit but being able to gauge the severity of other natural or man made disasters in real time or even months in advance will save lives and better prepare Emergency Management officials.

Other applications being developed detect and pinpoint auto accidents if they so happen to crash into fixed objects like power poles or bridges, this can save lives. The platform was also designed to monitor transportation assets, street lighting, road conditions, water, gas network, parking meters and consumer and industrial alarm systems, home based health care patients, pretty much anything and everything that has to do with keeping a city running and safe.

Each Fixed gateway or 'Access Point' running the Karnack OS can monitor up to 180 sensory devices that are within range simultaneously, giving the Telco's plenty of opportunity to maximize and leverage it's potential , it also allow them to expand there offerings into new areas that had not been developed.

Founded in 2002; Telepathx is a Melbourne Australia based wide area sensor network developer, its pioneering development efforts in smart energy grids has been recognized by the industry leading research firm of Frost & Sullivan, and is the proud recipient of the prestigious 2008 Entrepreneurial Company Award & the 2008 Industrial Technologies Award . The company is also a member of RNSA (Research Network Secure Australia).
