(Press-News.org) Meena Sethuraman, BS is the 2024 recipient of the ACMG Foundation/Revvity Travel Award. Ms. Sethuraman was selected to receive the award for her platform presentation, "Characterizing pathogenicity of ACADVL variants in very long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency.”
Meena Sethuraman is a third-year medical student in the Physician Scientist Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her research, being conducted with Dr. Jerry Vockley, FACMG, involves studying genetic variants in fatty acid oxidation disorders. Meena previously received her BS in Neurobiology at the University of Washington. Her undergraduate and post-baccalaureate research focused on designing expression cassettes for gene therapy of atherosclerosis.
Upon receiving the ACMG Foundation/Revvity 2024 Travel Award, Ms. Sethuraman said, “I am honored to receive this award and excited to present my research at the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting. I am grateful to the ACMG Foundation for supporting me in my path towards becoming a physician-scientist.”
The ACMG Foundation/PerkinElmer Diagnostics Travel Award (now known as the ACMG Foundation/Revvity Travel Award) was originally created in 2008 by Signature Genomics to recognize an ACMG member and first author of a platform presentation abstract for the scientific program. The ACMG Program Committee selects the award recipient based on scientific merit.
