The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition Blogs Good; Wins First Place

The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition's THE Blog was recently announced as the 1st place winner in the inaugural Schmutzie.com's Canadian Weblog Awards Literature and Writing category.

2011-01-13
REGINA, SK, January 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition, the most prestigious name in short film script contests, has earned one more honour: first place in the Writing and Literature category as part of the first edition of the Canadian Weblog Awards, a recently introduced annual event administered by Schmutzie.com, which was created to promote good weblogs of all genres from across Canada year round through regular interviews, articles, and the nomination, judging and award process that culminates with the announcement of the top three weblogs in each category on January 1st of each year.

This is the first award of this variety for the internationally recognized script contest. Festival founder, David Cormican is one of three regular contributors to the competition's blog, affectionately called THE Blog. Dillon Andrews, a competition administrator and associate producer with the CSSC, contributes regularly alongside Cormican and two-time Top 5 CSSC finalist and #WW Laureate, Carolynne Ciceri.

"It's been an absolute pleasure working on the CSSC blog", says Andrews. "Since its inception, the blog has been putting a face to the competition and has been showcasing what we're (CSSC) all about. With helpful articles, relevant discussion fodder for screenwriters, interesting tales from past CSSC entrants, to insight as to what is going on in the competition both currently and in the future, the blog is just fun to be a part of. Receiving the Canadian Weblog Award solidifies the fact that our website is more than just a promotional tool for the competition; it's a fun site worthy of a read!"

The CSSC's blog is updated with new articles several times a week, and has steadily gained in popularity with the introduction of the Writers Wednesday (#WW) posts made by Ciceri, who muses and humours every Wednesday on (her) life as an emerging screenwriting talent in Canada and how life seems to always get in the way, but somehow always leaves behind a lesson to be applied to her craft.

THE Blog can be found and commented on by visiting the Canadian Short Screenplay Competition's website.
