New Human Resources Book Offers a Solution to Social Media Risks in the Workplace

With the lines between personal and professional social media use becoming increasingly blurred, social media risks in the workplace have reached a tipping point that now requires all organizations to evaluate social media risks in the workplace.

2011-01-18
REDONDO BEACH, CA, January 18, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jesse Torres today announced the release of his latest book on social media risks in the workplace. The "Human Resources Guide to Social Media Risks" (ISBN 1456533126) (http://amzn.to/hrsmguide) is a book that addresses organizational risks associated with social media. With the lines between personal and professional social media use becoming increasingly blurred, social media risks in the workplace have reached a tipping point that now requires all organizations to evaluate social media risks in the workplace. This is true regardless of an organization's adoption of social media.

"It is no longer possible for organizations to bury their heads in the sand and ignore social media. Social media is not only here, it's there, and there, and everywhere. Organizations no longer have the luxury of escaping social media in the workplace. In fact, the risks posed by social media are greatest within organizations that fail to acknowledge its existence," said Torres. "Social media use has become ubiquitous. Organizations need to realize this fact and take action."

The "Human Resources Guide to Social Media Risks" provides a focused review of social media risks within the workplace. The intent is to provide human resources professionals with a tool to assess the risks and implement appropriate actions. The "Human Resources Guide to Social Media Risks" addresses the entire employee lifecycle, from social media use in the recruiting process, to employee use of social media, to social media-related terminations.

"As a CEO I have encouraged my organization to become an active user of social media for the purpose of documenting our organization's brand promise," said Torres. "This book includes many of the lessons learned from our experiences as well as many other current and evolving risks." The "Human Resources Guide to Social Media Risks" is available for purchase at Amazon.com (http://amzn.to/hrsmguide).
