Larry J. Diaz Joins Metro Health as a Cardiologist

WYOMING, MI, January 28, 2011

In another move to expand its strength in cardiology, Metro Health Hospital announced today the Dr. Larry J. Diaz has joined as a cardiologist.

Diaz is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. After completing a clinical and research fellowship at Metro Health, he joined the growing Metro Heart and Vascular. The organization has six board-certified physicians offering comprehensive cardiology services in three locations in West Michigan.

A native of Venezuela who is fluent in five languages, Diaz obtained his MD degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He also completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Prior to joining Metro, Diaz worked as a cardiologist for several Florida hospitals and practices, including the Heart Center of Florida, where he was associate director of non-invasive cardiology and director of cardiovascular research and education. He also served as a staff physician for several hospitals in Massachusetts prior to his move to Florida.

In addition to being licensed in Michigan, he is also licensed in Massachusetts and Florida. He lectures and writes frequently on cardiology subjects.

He has received numerous professional and research awards, including being name one of America's Top Cardiologists in 2010 by the Consumer's Research Council of America and the Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association for 2009-2010, his third time to receive this honor. He is also a member of the National Register's "Who's Who" in Executives and Professionals.

Active professionally, Diaz is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and an active member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention and the American Heart Association.

He now resides Grand Rapids with his wife, Patricia, and their children, Ethan and Emma.
