The Ceramic Society of Japan’s Oxoate Ceramics Research Association launches new international book project

The Ceramic Society of Japan’s Oxoate Ceramics Research Association is delighted to announce the launch of a major international book project titled “Functional Oxoate Ceramics and Glasses: Current Progress and Future Perspectives” to be published by Jenny Stanford Publishing. The scholarly endeavor was officially announced at The 38th Fall Meeting held at Gunma University. The forthcoming edited volume aims to curate high-quality contributions from leading researchers in Japan and abroad who specialize in glass science and functional oxoate ceramics.

After three years leading up to the United Nations’ 2022 International Year of Glass, the global community has increasingly focused on advancing research in functional oxoate-based glass-ceramics and glasses by promoting key technologies to support sustainability. This book volume aims to serve as a comprehensive reference for all graduate students, researchers, engineers, and professors that integrates fundamental science, current technological applications, and future perspectives from notable experts. Moreover, the chapters cover an interdisciplinary scope by highlighting glass-ceramics for next-generation battery storage, the development of thin-film borophosphorosilicate glass for device technologies, β-tricalcium phosphate ceramics for biomaterials, and durable glasses for nuclear waste management, etc.

The co-editors of the book are Professor Toshinori Okura (Dean of the School of Advanced Engineering at Kogakuin University) and Santosh Miryala (Visiting Scholar at Kogakuin University).

“It has been a great honor to lead the Oxoate Ceramics Research Association within the Ceramic Society of Japan. This global initiative represents an international commitment to advancing the development and future potential of functional oxoate ceramics and glasses,” said Prof. Toshinori Okura.

“From energy and electronics to environmental sustainability, glass is a versatile material at the core of global innovation and is indispensable in helping achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals while contributing to a prosperous future,” said Santosh Miryala.

In closing, a formal announcement will be released upon the book’s publication by Jenny Stanford Publishing.
