Don Barnhart, Television Director/author Continues To Break The Mold Of Status Quo By Releasing Third Novel

Bucking the trend of taking it easy in his latter years, the world-renowned director/author goes against the grain of hanging it up, releasing his third novel entitled, Jack and the Jills, feeling it's never too late to 'embrace your age'

2011-02-22
LAS VEGAS, NV, February 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Don Barnhart, television director/author continues to break the mold of status quo by releasing third novel.

Bucking the trend of taking it easy in his latter years, the world-renowned director/author goes against the grain of hanging it up, releasing his third novel entitled, Jack and the Jills, feeling it's never too late to 'embrace your age'.

The story is a look-back to the fifties, a nostalgic romp that takes the reader smack dab into the Golden Age and won't let them go without 'said readers' laughing themselves silly, or perhaps shedding a few tears along the way at the abundance of cherished memories.

This latest novel is a fictional memoir based on a whole lotta truth and makes its location in the San Fernando Valley, a place where Barnhart is quite familiar with since he grew up there and lived to tell about it.

'Ye verily, to write, or direct, that is the question', Barnhart always asks. Of course, the answer is both. He was a respected director of over four hundred episodes of hit television shows until entering the provocative world of fictional writing.

If the truth be known, he's been writing for over twenty years, but in the last ten has turned his eye toward the 'novel' form, feeling it has "freed me up like a bottle of prune juice".

Barnhart's words.

He recently switched gears, again!, directing a live television shoot for the Director's Guild of America, a yearly event featuring the top directors up for the "Best Director of the Year" award. He has directed the four-hour show for the last eleven years and apparently they still like him enough to invite him back. This year's winner was Tom Hooper for 'The King's Speech'.

There are rumors going around about Mr. Barnhart's wacky work habits. They are becoming legendry. Not only does he talk to his two dogs (serious discussions, actually) but he's been known to take unfinished ideas to an outside fence post coming away with more than a few splinters.

His beautiful wife, Kelly, adamantly claims she isn't a bit worried.

In the early days, Don was a lover of hot rods, burgers and rock n' roll and after a few 'pitches' to his furry pitchees, he decided to write a story about it. Jacks and the Jills is a funny account, as well as it should be. After all, Mr. Barnhart had the unique opportunity of directing Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters at the same time, no less.

He has often said to any doorstop that would listen, "I should've learned something about funny, ya think?" He has recently begun work on his fourth novel with the energy of a kid receiving his first computer.

Our Father's Sons and Crooked Road Straight, the first two novels, are also available on Amazon, Kindle and all e-book outlets. All three may be purchased on his website; donlewisbarnhart.com, signed copies, of course.
