GORAL GABLES, FL, March 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) For travel expert Carlotta Luis, many vacation decisions are made based on what a family believes they know about a location. In Carlotta Luis' experience, knowledge is power. Providing solid basic information helps vacationers make the right choice and recently Carlotta Luis offered these basic answers to some common questions about the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Carlotta Luis reported that prospective travelers will find many differing opinions from online blogs about whether it is preferable to stay at a resort or a villa on a first visit to the islands. "I don't think you can go wrong with either choice," stated Carlotta Luis. She added, "A lot has to do with whether you want the full service of a hotel or enjoy the independence and space of a villa. Ask for the assistance of a travel professional, they can help with villa choices." From the perspective of Carlotta Luis it's nearly impossible to go wrong with either choice.
Carlotta Luis reported that transportation is also of concern to many vacationers. According to Carlotta Luis, visitors should definitely rent a car if the decision has been made to stay in a villa. Carlotta Luis noted that it is possible to have a resort arrange for a vehicle rental for part of the stay. Vacationers do not usually need a four wheel drive vehicle. Though there are some hills, Carlotta Luis suggested that most of the roads are easily navigated in any kind of car. It's fun to rent a jeep but not necessary, added Carlotta Luis.
According to Carlotta Luis, summertime travelers to the U.S. Virgin Islands need to keep in mind that June/November is hurricane season. Although hurricanes beyond the month of September are not as common, she recommended that summer-fall travelers purchase trip insurance. Carlotta Luis recalled that, "on a summertime visit in 2009, I almost cancelled due to a possible hurricane (that veered off) but we were hit by a tropical storm while there. It was fast moving so it really didn't affect my trip but it could have rained it out." For Carlotta Luis and her friends, weather is always concern but in a place with almost perfect weather you can rest assured that you'll enjoy some fun in the sun and beautiful Caribbean sea.
Questions about the weather are quite commonly asked of Carlotta Luis by prospective visitors to the USVI. She informs travelers that while it is quite warm in the summer, it still remains a very personal decision about whether the temperature will dictate the need for air conditioning in the main rooms. Carlotta Luis says that if that is of concern, the management at most resorts will be happy to assist with this request.
For Carlotta Luis and those she serves, the U.S. Virgin Islands remain an affordable, friendly and beautiful destination for vacationers looking for sand, sun and hospitality.
