BOSTON, MA, March 18, 2011 (Press-News.org) The program will feature works by Japanese composers Joe Hisaishi and Yumi Kimura (used in award-winning Hayao Miyazaki's films), and music by J.Brahms, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, W.A.Mozart. All donations collected during the concert will be sent to the American Red Cross directed towards supporting Japan.
The New England String Quartet, Boston's professional chamber music ensemble, was formed at Boston University, College of Fine Arts by violinists Julia Okrusko and Konstantin Rybakov, violist Lilit Muradyan, and cellist Ming-Hui Lin. The Quartet performs in Massachusetts and New England area, and collaborates with non-profit organizations in Massachusetts promoting music, educating, and supporting a wide variety of professional music projects.
As alumni and students of Boston University, the members of the New England String Quartet hope that this concert will increase the attention of Boston's academic community to recent disasters in Japan, and that the activity of the Quartet will inspire fellow musicians to arrange benefit concerts across the New England area. The Quartet expresses deep gratitude to Mr. Ray Bouchard, Director at Marsh Chapel, who generously offered the venue for this concert.
