Tarps Plus Main Supplier of Poly Tarp for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Efforts
2011-03-31
PALMDALE, CA, March 31, 2011 (Press-News.org) Tarps plus has its work cut out once more in the wake of a 9.8 devastating earthquake on Japan's north coast. Due to their experience in previous natural calamities such as the Haiti earthquake, the tsunami in Indonesia, hurricanes in the U. S and more, tarps plus is set to be the main supplier of poly tarp protective covers for unlimited applications following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that have hit Japan's coast.

The estimated loss of lives has been put at more than one thousand and this already puts the extent of damages caused into perspective. Homes have been crushed and families separated in the ensuing confusion and the populace is in dire need of food and medical supplies. While fleets of naval ships have already been dispatched, poly tarps will be needed on the ground to offer shelter and a temporary comfort. Many would never think a simple tarp could be so essential but they are.

Tarp plus has been a godsend for families and individuals in recent years caught in the increasingly present natural disasters occasioned by earth upheavals and unforgiving weather elements. These covers made of polyethylene have provided a reprieve, though temporary, to shaken populations the world over.

Even before the Japanese quake, production output had already been increased by twenty percent in anticipation for the 2011 hurricane season in the United States. It is thus safe to say that this useful resource will not be in short supply and consignments are already aboard ships to Japan.

A spoke person for the Tarps Plus said, "The poly tarps that we are sending are light duty blue poly tarps but they are able to handle coverage for several months."

Tarp plus has continued to provide a reliable and invaluable tool for disaster management and relief or even for prevention and preparedness. This poly tarps has provided a much needed shelter from the vagaries of weather and privacy to victims of unforeseen calamities.

Tarp plus is set to continue to be the main supplier of poly tarp protective covers, not only in the earthquake ravaged Japan, but also worldwide if weather projections for 2010 and increased frequency of natural calamities are anything to go by.

Tarps plus is a global leader for poly tarps, canvas tarps and multi-purpose covers.

Nursing students map their way to understanding HIV

2011-03-31
In the Faculty of Nursing, students are taught the importance of connecting with the community, and nursing professor Vera Caine has come up with a way for students to not only learn about working in the community, but also to actually be a part of it. The idea came about after Caine visited a body mapping art display hosted by HIV Edmonton. Caine, whose research interests include working with Aboriginal women with HIV, was immediately struck by the display. Her immediate reaction was that her students simply had to engage with the artists and body maps, after a conversation ...

How Early can Tooth Decay be Detected?

2011-03-31
Many people do not worry about tooth decay until they are told they have a dental cavity, possibly thinking that cavities are difficult to prevent and cannot be detected until they are causing pain. However, the opposite is actually true. Cavities and tooth decay may be detected before much damage has affected the tooth, and new dental technology called DIAGNOdent is making early detection even easier than traditional cavity detection. The Dental Explorer vs. DIAGNOdent In traditional general dentistry a cavity may be detected by pressing the pointed end of a dental ...

Blocking carbon dioxide fixation in bacteria increases biofuel production

2011-03-31
Reducing the ability of certain bacteria to fix carbon dioxide can greatly increase their production of hydrogen gas that can be used as a biofuel. Researchers from the University of Washington, Seattle, report their findings in the current issue of online journal mBio®. "Hydrogen gas is a promising transportation fuel that can be used in hydrogen fuel cells to generate an electric current with water as the only waste product," says Caroline Harwood, who conducted the study with James McKinlay. "Phototrophic bacteria, like Rhodopseudomonas palustris obtain energy from ...
