NEW YORK, NY, April 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is hosting its 10th anniversary benefit dinner Thursday, April 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at One Chase Manhattan Plaza in New York City. JPM Chase's Chief Administrative Officer, Frank J. Bisignano, is the benefit chair.

This year's annual benefit reception and dinner celebrates the organization's decade of progress in its battle against eating disorders—fighting for more research, expanded education and prevention, support and access to treatment for these life-threatening illnesses.

Emceeing the dinner is New York City news anchor, Diana Williams, WABC-TV, and the featured speaker is Thomas R. Insel, M.D., director of the National Institute of Mental Health. Special guests are NEDA Ambassador Emme, supermodel, TV personality, author, lecturer, clothing designer and women's advocate; and Craig Johnson, Ph.D., a founder of NEDA and the Chief Clinical Officer of the Eating Recovery Center in Denver.

NEDA's 2011 "Enlightenment Award" will be presented to NEDA founders Don and Melissa Nielsen for their years of volunteer efforts and financial generosity. Seventeen-year-old Bailey Monarch will receive the "Volunteer of the Year Award" for her accomplishments in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area; and Savannah Dickson will be recognized as the winner of NEDA's recent Public Service Announcement Contest. A live auction will be led by actor Steve Schirripa (Hereafter, HBO's The Sopranos, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas).

Commented Lynn Grefe, president and CEO of NEDA, "The 10-year anniversary of NEDA is a wonderful time to reflect on all the progress and to celebrate the amazing people who have played a role in these accomplishments. It's also a time to look to the future and renew our commitment as we still have a long way to go to realize a world without eating disorders."
