KOH SAMUI, THAILAND, April 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) The gruelling 2011 International Samui Island Triathlon comes to the Thai resort of Koh Samui later this month.

Entrants will be tasked with swimming four km, cycling around the island one and a half times - a combined distance of 122 km - and running 30 km.

The overall winner is set to pocket 800,000 Thai baht (GBP16,000) for their efforts, while the top woman will receive 500,000 Thai baht.

Proceedings are scheduled to take place on April 24th, kicking off at 07:25 local time from Bophut Beach.

Although demanding, the course will give athletes and fans the opportunity to see some of the sights of Koh Samui, including the Lamai Temple and the communities of Bang Kao, Taling Ngam and Maenam.

To be in with a chance of winning, people must complete the swim, bike ride and run by certain times of day - 09:45, 15:38 and 19:27 respectively.

Participation in the challenge requires the registration fee of 10,000 Thai baht to be paid by April 15th.
