LOS ANGELES, CA, April 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Los Angeles, California - April 14, 2011 - Language System International (LSI) and its students have donated almost $6,000 towards the Red Cross Japan Relief Effort. The two week fundraiser collected donations from the students and faculty at all four campuses (Alhambra, Downtown Los Angeles, Orange County and Torrance) and LSI matched all of the donations.
"With a number of our students being from Japan, the disaster had a real impact on our student body, " said LSI's Academic Director, Michelle Buell. "We knew instantly that we would make a donation to help those affected by the tsunami and earthquake, and thanks to our students, we were able to raise a great amount of money. We are thrilled to be gifting the Red Cross at this time and LSI will continue to do our part to give back to communities in need."
This was the very first fundraiser for LSI, and is the beginning stage of their newly developed Outreach and Volunteer Program. With an international student body spanning over 15 countries, the goal of this new program is not only to raise money, but to introduce LSI students to various local volunteer programs as a way to better integrate them into American culture.
