DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, April 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) Black Eyed Peas, one of the most successful chart acts of recent years, are heading to Dusseldorf's Esprit Arena.
The American hip-hop band will bring their explosive stage presence and extensive back catalogue of hits to the venue on Tuesday June 28th for their only German tour date of the year.
Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie are still riding high on the success of their latest album The Beginning, which was released in November last year.
The LP, which features singles The Time (Dirty Bit) and Just Can't Get Enough, reached number eight on the UK albums chart and continued the group's remarkable run of commercial success.
Formed in 1995, the Black Eyed Peas won critical plaudits as an underground act before breaking into the mainstream with their third album Elephunk.
The 2003 record was the first to feature vocal contributions from Fergie, a performer who was credited with bringing a fresh element to the group with her R'n'B-inspired sound.
Building on the success of Elephunk, Black Eyed Peas proceeded to dominate the charts with subsequent albums Monkey Business and The END, which includes the UK number one singles Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling.
Fans can look forward to hearing many of these tracks when the group appear in Dusseldorf this summer.
Their performance at the Esprit Arena will offer devotees a chance to see the band before they head to the UK and Ireland for several festival dates.
Tickets for the Dusseldorf show are now available to purchase online, priced at EUR59 (GBP51.90) plus booking fee.

Researchers construct RNA nanoparticles to safely deliver long-lasting therapy to cells
2011-04-24
CINCINNATI—Nanotechnology researchers have known for years that RNA, the cousin of DNA, is a promising tool for nanotherapy, in which therapeutic agents can be delivered inside the body via nanoparticles. But the difficulties of producing long-lasting, therapeutic RNA that remains stable and non-toxic while entering targeted cells have posed challenges for their progress.
In two new publications in the journal Molecular Therapy, University of Cincinnati (UC) biomedical engineering professor Peixuan Guo, PhD, details successful methods of producing large RNA nanoparticles ...
Worm studies shed light on human cancers
2011-04-24
MADISON -- Research in the worm is shedding light on a protein associated with a number of different human cancers, and may point to a highly targeted way to treat them.
University of Wisconsin-Madison scientists were studying a worm protein called TFG-1, which is present in many cell types but whose exact role had never been understood. The scientists discovered that the protein controls key aspects of the movement, or secretion, of growth factors out of cells.
"TFG-1 has never been implicated in the secretory process before," says Dr. Anjon Audhya, an assistant ...

Starting a new metabolic path
2011-04-24
Efforts to engineer new metabolic pathways into microbes for the inexpensive production of valuable chemical products, such as biofuels or therapeutic drugs, should get a significant boost in a new development from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI). Researchers there have successfully demonstrated a technique they call "targeted proteomics" that speeds up and improves the ability to identify and quantify specific proteins within a cell or microorganism.
"Metabolic engineers and synthetic biologists can use our directed proteomic technique ...

2011-04-24
ATLANTA – A study conducted by Brenda Hanna-Pladdy, PhD, a clinical neuropsychologist in Emory's Department of Neurology, and cognitive psychologist Alicia MacKay, PhD, found that older individuals who spent a significant amount of time throughout life playing a musical instrument perform better on some cognitive tests than individuals who did not play an instrument.
The findings were published in the April journal Neuropsychology.
While much research has been done to determine the cognitive benefits of musical activity by children, this is the first study to examine ...
Entrepreneurship urged to stimulate the economy
