Profasi launched to improve facilities management efficiency

Profasi reduces the cost of maintenance and increases the efficiency of assets

LONDON, ENGLAND, September 12, 2010

A software package has been developed to help facilities managers reduce the cost of maintenance and increase the efficiency of assets.

A major redbrick university has been running Profasi to manage the facilities in 23 of its buildings for the last 12 months and has found a great increase in efficiency in controlling its asset maintenance.

Profasi is an online facilities management database which gives all the information needed to ensure plant and electrical systems operate at maximum efficiency.

"It covers maintenance schedules on both a planned and conditional basis - and, importantly, keeps a record of the work done," explains Barry Neil, Chairman, Profasi-FM. The comprehensive asset database provides an independent and reasoned assessment of the remaining useful lifetime of plant, improving both replacement budgeting and financial reporting.

This constant monitoring reduces the total hours needed for maintenance - and the probability of breakdown. Also, by providing clear evidence as to whether each item of plant is operating to its design specification, Profasi enhances the client's position in warranty negotiations for replacements and extensions.

Profasi is suitable for any building or property over 1,000 sq metres, from hospitals, leisure centres and football clubs to universities, factories and office blocks. It covers the complete range of plant, including ventilation and heating systems, data and communication wiring, security ad CCTV systems and plumbing and drainage.

"We do a survey of the property and record, photograph and barcode each piece of plant and then agree a maintenance plan with the facilities manager," says Mr Neil. "Everything is tailored to the exact requirements of the people using it - and all loaded into the database."

The data is loaded on handheld devices for engineers, who can access - and update - exactly the information they need for the specific unit/area they are working with. This ensures the database is always up to date and potential problems identified early.

"Now that we have proved the value of Profasi, we are ready to bring it to the market," says Mr Neil. "But we are also continuing to develop the product and will be adding other features such as health and safety monitoring and remote monitoring."

Customers are billed either on the square metres of the building or per asset on a monthly fee. "Profasi is much more economical than other packages available on the market," says Mr Neil.

Notes to Editors: Profasi is a tool for the control of the maintenance of assets. It combines both PPM (Planned Predictive Maintenance) and CBM (Conditioned Based Monitoring) functions and assets are maintained according to HVCA (Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association) specifications. This web based system offers a powerful but simple tool for the control of the maintenance and upkeep of assets for a client. It allows the simplified centralised control of a range of sites with a large number of assets with simple feedback showing overdue maintenance jobs and forecasts of upcoming maintenance requirements.
