Atlanta Tree Service Company Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts Encourages Involvement in Arbor Day

Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts, an Atlanta tree service company, encourages the Atlanta community to participate in Arbor Day this year on April 29.

2011-04-26
ATLANTA, GA, April 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) Atlanta tree service company Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts is encouraging community members throughout the metro Atlanta area to celebrate Arbor Day this spring. The nationwide holiday commemorates and acknowledges the importance of trees to our environment and society.

Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts views Arbor Day as an opportunity to and learn about arboriculture and practice proper tree maintenance. Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts is a tree service company, specializing in Atlanta tree removal, tree trimming, and storm damage response.

Arbor Day is celebrated nationally on April 29; however, each state celebrates its own state holiday, which sometimes differs from the national date depending on the climate and the best time for tree planting in that state.

The first Arbor Day was celebrated on April 10, 1872, when it was founded by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The holiday was created to encourage people to plant and care for trees, "arbor" being the Latin word for "tree". It was estimated that one million trees were planted on the first Arbor Day.

"There is no better day to devote time to trees than Arbor Day," explains Gary Robertson, owner of Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts. "Whether it is planting a tree, learning how to care for your trees, or taking a walk through a park or forest, this is one holiday that is both fun and easy to celebrate. We encourage everyone in the metro Atlanta area to take an hour out of their day or week to celebrate Arbor Day and recognize the importance and beauty of our nation's trees."

The traditional way to celebrate Arbor Day is by planting a tree; however, there are a number of ways to celebrate Arbor Day. You can read an educational book about trees to your children, take a hike through a nature trail, or organize a neighborhood event, such as planting a bed of trees or holding a recycling drive.

The experts at Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts use only the best tree care practices in their Atlanta tree services. By developing their own expertise and encouraging the Atlanta community to learn more about tree care, Yellow Ribbon Tree Experts works to ensure healthier trees across Atlanta.

In the wake of the wind

2011-04-26
On the Front Range within the Rocky Mountains, prevailing winds sweep eastward over the mountains smack into the National Wind Technology Center. Several wind turbines, some taller than a 40-story building, spin and hum at the site, just outside of Boulder, Colo., waiting for an experiment to start in the next month. The turbines not only produce power, they produce wakes – similar to what forms in bodies of water – that are invisible ripples and waves and other disturbances in the atmosphere downstream that can damage turbines and decrease efficiency.
