SAINT CHARLES, IL, May 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) Guy J. Bellaver will be exhibiting his sculpture, "Prairie Song.Q" at the Merchandise Mart, along Orleans Street, for the upcoming Art Chicago, April 29 - May 2. The exhibit, a partnership between the Mart and Chicago Sculpture International, features 23 monumental sculptures. In addition, Bellaver will be part of the Chicago Sculpture International Booth #167 at Art Chicago inside the Mart. His piece "Lissome.Q Study" will be part of CSI's "6 to the third" exhibit and sale. Show hours are Friday, April 29: 11am - 7pm, April 30: 11 - 7, May 1: 11 - 6, May 2: 11 - 4. About Guy J. Bellaver and Sculpture:
Mr. Bellaver is a sculptor whose works span many mediums, including stone, wood, painted steel, and bronze. His monumental works include The Kane County Veterans Memorial, Geneva, IL; kwabet (Potawatomi Indian - found in the Art Inventories Catalog of the Smithsonian American Art Museum), St. Charles, IL; The Crucifixion of Christ (both bronze and wood), St. Patrick's Church, St. Charles, IL; The Growth of Post Modern, MCC Technology, St. Charles, IL; Limestone in the Wind/Pittsburgh, Latrobe, PA; and Jesus Christ/The Resurrection, The Daughters of St. Paul, Boston, MA. His collectors include H. J. Heinz Company, Graphite Sales, and the Forest County Potawatomi, among others. His work also appears in private collections around the country.
After his discharge from the United States Army, Mr. Bellaver earned a B.A. in Economics from St. Vincent College. He has worked as a sculptor full time since 1975. Mr. Bellaver has taken masters credit classes in art at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Northern Illinois University, as well as The School of the Museum of Art in Chicago. He is presently a member of CSI (Chicago Sculpture International), and the International Sculpture Center. He sits on the Board of the St. Charles Visitors and Cultural Commission and the Steering Committee of the St. Charles Arts Council. Mr. Bellaver is a past President of the St. Charles Rotary Club and Foundation and a past Chairman of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership's Public Art Committee.
