LateRooms.com - Cheltenham Literature Festival Could Appeal to Cotswold Visitors

The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival will feature a line-up of leading authors, cultural experts and entertainment stars.

2010-09-14
COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, September 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) One of the world's oldest literature festivals returns next month, with book lovers from all over the country set to head to Gloucestershire for the occasion.

Running from October 8th to 17th, the Times Cheltenham Literature Festival is likely to inspire many Cotswold hotel bookings in the run-up to the opening day.

With 450 events spread over the ten days and the likes of Sebastian Faulks, AS Byatt, Salman Rushdie and Hanif Kureishi set to appear, this year's line-up is bound to thrill literature fans.

Last month, the BBC reported that 40,000 tickets for the festival had been sold on the first day of public booking.

Executive director Clair Greenaway said the appeal of the festival stems from the "wide-ranging" nature of its programme.

"Whether you're interested in previous winners of the Booker prize or Nigella Lawson talking about her new cookbook, there's something for everyone," she told the news provider.

As well as a host of literary heavyweights, the 2010 festival will feature many stars from the world of entertainment.

Movie legend Michael Caine is due in Cheltenham to discuss his autobiography, while Channel 4 star Derren Brown will be talking about his book Confessions of a Conjuror.

Events at the festival are individually priced. Visitors can see Brown at The Centaur on October 9th for GBP13, while Rushdie's appearance at the Everyman Theatre on the same day is priced at GBP9.

For more information on this event, visit the Times Cheltenham Literature Festival website or contact the organisers on 0844 576 8970.
