LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA, May 22, 2011
The Lake Arrowhead Village and the Village Merchants Association's FREE Summer Concert Series continues this weekend with three talented bands: Beatles' tribute, Paperback Writer and the Beach Boy's tribute, Catch a Wave, performing at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 and Elton—The Early Years, an Elton John Tribute, performing on Saturday, May 21, also at 6:30 p.m.Paperback Writer—The Beatles Experience will take the audience at Center Stage on a trip through the musical years of the world's most popular rock group of all time! Hear hits from the Ed Sullivan Show through the colorful Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band years and on to the rooftops of "Let It Be," performed with "spot on" vocal, look and sound-alike ability. This national show is featured at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park and around the world, performing for fairs, major casinos and the cruise industry. Paperback Writer has also headlined in South America, The Caribbean, and Japan. Don't miss Paperback Writer, the true "Beatles Experience."
Catch a Wave—The sounds of surf, sun and classic cars set the backdrop for the legendary Beach Boys, presented by world-renowned show "Catch a Wave." Formerly known as The Beach Toys, Catch A Wave is the only true-to-from tribute of its kind. Sporting the well-recognized classic striped shirts, the band will thrill listeners with authentic harmonic greats like "I Get Around," "Surfer Girl," "Surfin' USA," "Help Me, Rhonda," "Good Vibrations" and "California Girls." This act is also the only Beach Boys' show to have been personally selected to perform for The Beach Boys and their families and friends for the California Beach Boys' state landmark dedication.
Elton—The Early Years—When you take four seasoned professional musicians and add the top-notch music of Elton John's early sound, you have a hit show. Elton—The Early Years leaves you feeling like you went back in time. Just close your eyes and it's the Troubadour in 1970. Then, when you open your eyes, it's Elton in 1970. Complete with polyester, flared bell-bottom pants, platform shoes, gigantic glasses, glitter and sequins, Elton—The Early Years is a tribute show like none other. Many boast that they can capture the sound of Elton John today. But this band has captured the very sound of his youth.
Underwritten by the Lake Arrowhead Village and the Village Merchants Association, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., KOLA 99.9 FM, the Rim of the World Historical Society and Ontario Reign, the concert lineup will also feature popular solo artists such as Leif Garrett and Antonio Pontarelli and renowned groups like The English Beat, Ambrosia, Venice, Naked Eyes, Spazmatics, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the Jay Blues Band and Martha Davis & the Motels.
Talented tribute bands will include Dead Man's Party, featuring the music of Oingo Boingo; a Journey tribute band called Lights, Eagles' tribute Desperado; Pink Floyd tribute Which One's Pink; and an Aerosmith Tribute band, Aeromyth.
Performing music from virtually every genre, the concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday nights at 6:30 p.m. as well as Sundays and Mondays during long holiday weekends.
