LOS ANGELES, CA, May 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) This Sunday, May 29th, the Blue Dog Beer Tavern of Sherman Oaks will Bar-B-Que "Root Beer Bourbon Tri-Tips" to underscore community support for the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Fire and Rescue Services. Blue Dog has partnered with L.A. City Local Fire Station #88 to heed the call of personal losses suffered by their fellow fire fighters in Alabama.
The recent tragedy in Alabama left over 300 fatalities and produced financial hardship to homes and businesses. From the outset, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue immediately appeared on the scene. Within their station, fellow firefighters suffered damage to their homes while working to help their community. Funds raised this Sunday will be used to help the firefighters who have suffered severe damage to their homes.
Fire Chief, Alan Martin, of the Fire and Rescue Services in Tuscaloosa said, "This is the costliest disaster in Alabama since Hurricane Ivan in 2004 when losses approached $2 billion." The housing and debris removal of over 1.5 million cubic yards is on going.
Paul Scrivano, an owner of the Blue Dog Beer Tavern in Sherman Oaks is the driving force in this effort. A strong supporter of Local Fire Station 88, Paul understands that fire stations need community support and communities across the nation need to support one another. His emotional reaction to firefighters in distress was the catalyst for this event.
Since opening in 2009, Blue Dog has supported community. It helped raise contributions approaching $25,000 for the LA County Task Force II, the California Wildlife Center, and the Sheriffs Youth Foundation.
The Blue Dog Beer Tavern is "the" neighborhood place to go to for "honest food in a comfortable environment served with great artisan beers." Gregarious by nature, Paul has created a wonderful spot and also displays his love of animals with photos of over 600 dogs lining the walls of this fun setting in Sherman Oaks.
