SINGAPORE, June 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) Video an Art a History will be opening at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) on June 10th and includes pieces by Nam June Paik and Jean-Luc Godard.

Running until September 18th 2011, the collection combines media and video works from SAM's own archives with several high-profile projects borrowed from the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

As well as Paik, Godard and a host of other internationally acclaimed creators, visitors can expect to discover art by south-east Asian contributors such as Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba and Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook.

In a statement, the organisers said: "The exhibition recounts the history of this very contemporary field punctuating the main phases of contemporary art from 1965 to 2010."

While at the SAM, people should be sure to check out the Art Garden, which is on display until August 30th 2011 and includes several family-orientated interactive installations.

The gallery is open from 10:00 to 19:00 local time every day except Friday, when it closes at 21:00.

It costs S$10 (GBP4.90) to enter, but attendees who head to the museum after 18:00 on Friday can get in for free.
