Security Engineered Machinery's Optical Media Shredder Destroys CDs and DVDs

The Model 0201 OMD Optical Media Destroyer from Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) shreds CDs, DVDs, credit cards, ID badges, access cards, and similar items, reducing them to tiny 2.2 mm x 4 mm particles.

2010-09-17
WESTBORO, MA, September 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Model 0201 OMD Optical Media Destroyer from Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) shreds CDs, DVDs, credit cards, ID badges, access cards, and similar items, reducing them to tiny 2.2 mm x 4 mm particles satisfying the requirements of NSA/CSS 04-02.

The Optical Media Destroyer can destroy up to 2,500 disks per hour — 60% more than competing units. Small enough for office use, it is 40.25" high, 21.5" wide, and 23.25" deep. The throat, specially designed to accept optical media, is 12.25" wide.

Ergonomic photoelectric controls provide for hands-free start and stop; the cutters are activated by the introduction of discs and are automatically shut off seconds later when the material is destroyed. If the door of the machine is open or the bag inside is full, the cutting head will not operate and an indicator light will signal the problem. The large 30-gallon waste collection bin is constructed of anti-static material to prevent particles from clinging to it when emptying. The Model 0201 features the exclusive ESM - Energy Savings Mode which powers down the unit after prolonged periods of inactivity, and also the ECC - Electronic Capacity Control which provides a visual indication of infeed capacity being utilized, to help prevent overfeeding and paper jams.

A built-in automatic oiling system provides continuous oil flow to the cutting heads, improving performance and extending blade life. A 1-year warranty covers all parts.

A leader in the secure destruction of electronic media and paper documents, Security Engineered Machinery, ISO 14001 registered, is the largest direct supplier of data-destruction equipment in the United States and operates the largest destruction facility in the Northeast, adjacent to its headquarters in Westboro, Massachusetts. The company's full-service engineering department designs special products, such as the currency destruction systems in use by the Federal Reserve Bank and other central banks. Every American embassy uses SEM equipment. Areas of expertise include the destruction of hard drives and other mixed media; "off-spec" or returned product for the pharmaceutical, medical device, and food industries; and heavy-duty, high-capacity shredders for recycling applications. More than 100 SEM authorized service centers are positioned to serve customers worldwide.
