Bristol's Arch House Deli announced as the south west's Deli of the Year

Arch House Deli has been awarded the title of top delicatessen in the South West and is now up for the title of Deli Of The Year 2011.

2011-06-21
BRISTOL, ENGLAND, June 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) The judges, a panel of experts from the food industry including buyers, retailers and journalists, got very hot under the collar judging over 120 delis (from a total of over 400 nominations) and the regional finalists were finally announced on 17th June 2011 after much debate and final voting.

The Deli of the Year competition is an idea created and organised by Olives Et Al, an artisan food producer in Dorset, as a way of raising the awareness of delis everywhere and helping them get real feedback from their customers in a way that is both supportive and helpful to business owners.

"We are all really excited at being chosen as the top deli in the South West. There are so many great delis in the South West, I'm sure it must have been a difficult decision for the judges. It's really rewarding to get this recognition for the work the team at Arch House Deli have been doing over the last 18 months in creating the type of deli we believe the people of Bristol want and deserve."
"During the voting stage it was fantastic to get such great feedback about our use of local products, the focus we put on tasting events and on adding an element of fun into the deli and cafe. Our diverse range of foods designed to cater for food intolerances and allergies was also mentioned and perhaps most notable was the fantastic feedback we received on the team at Arch House Deli and their knowledge and friendliness." David Greenman, Arch House Deli

Arch House Deli will now go forward as the regional winner for the South West to the UK finals which will be announced at the coveted food 'Oscars' of the fine food world which take place in London on September 5th.

Created and organised by Olives Et Al, supported by The Guild of Fine Food and Delicious Magazine, Deli of the Year is open to all, from the smallest post office with a tiny deli counter to high street delis and rural farm shops. As the organisers, Olives Et Al firmly believe that the deli culture in Britain is to be supported and celebrated. Giles Henschel of Olives Et Al explains, "Last year thousands of people supported delis in their own high streets. The comments we received were amazing and we were truly staggered by the level of support for delis - we know that each regional winner has been carefully judged and selected - we know we will find a worthy winner of the title Deli of the Year 2011."
