LateRooms.com - Guitar Legend Jeff Beck to Play Dusseldorf

Jeff Beck is set to bring his virtuoso brand of rock music to the Philipshalle in Dusseldorf.

2010-09-18
DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, September 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Music fans with Dusseldorf hotel bookings will have a chance to see one of the world's greatest guitarists live on stage later this year.

Jeff Beck has confirmed a performance at the city's Philipshalle venue on November 4th as one of five concerts he is playing in Germany this autumn.

Having released his tenth studio album Emotion and Commotion earlier this year, Beck continues to thrill rock music fans around the world with his virtuoso lead guitar skills and distinctive sound.

Born in south London in 1944, he rose to prominence during the 1960s as a member of The Yardbirds, a cult blues rock band based in the English capital.

Beck replaced Eric Clapton as the group's lead guitarist and was one of three legendary musicians to feature in the band, with Jimmy Page also joining before he went on to form Led Zeppelin.

After leaving The Yardbirds, Beck scored a top 20 hit with Hi Ho Silver Lining in 1967 and put together the Jeff Beck Group.

The band released several acclaimed records with varying line-ups, before the guitar hero's first solo album, Blow by Blow, appeared in 1975.

Despite being an all-instrumental release, the long-player was a commercial success and is now considered one of the high points of Beck's career.

Two of the artist's 1980s albums, Flash and Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop, received a Grammy Award for best rock instrumental performance.

Beck's arrival in Dusseldorf is bound to cause excitement among fans of guitar music, as the 66-year-old was ranked at number 14 in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

Tickets for the Philipshalle concert are priced between EUR48.50 and EUR71.50 (GBP40.05 and GBP59.05), with the music due to get underway at 20:00 local time.

For more information on this event, visit the Philipshalle website.
