BERLIN, GERMANY, July 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Legendary rock vocalist Robert Plant is set to perform live in Berlin as part of his European tour this summer.
The former Led Zeppelin frontman will play the German capital's Zitadelle Spandau venue on Wednesday August 3rd, giving fans a chance to hear tracks from his latest album Band of Joy.
Known for possessing one of the most powerful voices in music, Plant has carved out a successful solo career since the death of drummer John Bonham brought the Led Zeppelin era to a close in 1980.
His recordings have embraced a diverse selection of influences, ranging from psychedelic rock to African music and traditional folk songs.
The 62-year-old injected fresh life into his career with the 2007 album Raising Sand, on which he collaborated with American bluegrass singer Alison Krauss and producer T-Bone Burnett.
Widely praised by critics, the LP was named album of the year at the Grammy Awards in 2009.
In addition, Plant was recently lauded as the best lead singer of all time in a readers' poll conducted by Rolling Stone magazine.
His show at the Zitadelle Spandau should give fans an opportunity to revel in the musician's late career renaissance, as well as enjoying classic tracks from his back catalogue.
On his official website, Plant has explained why he chose to call his latest record Band of Joy - the name of one of his early bands.
"When I was 17, I was playing everybody else's stuff and moving it around, and it's kind of ... time to reinvoke that attitude and sentiment," he said.
Tickets for the Berlin gig are available online, priced at EUR62 (GBP54.60). Doors are due to open at 19:30 local time.
