1Egg1World Gallery One and Craig Ruddy Have Joined Together to Help Raise One Million Dollars for Australian Charities Cool Australia Orphfund and Traditional Healthcare

Question: What came first the chicken or the art? Answer: In this case, it is definitely the chicken! Thanks to an imaginative trading program the humble egg will ultimately become a substantial donation to 3 worthy Australian charities.

2011-08-06
SOUTHPORT, AUSTRALIA, August 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) 1Egg1World started in January 2009 as a fund raising initiative to prove that even the smallest things in the world can help to make a difference.

The idea is the brainwave of three Australian University students who refer to themselves as 'chickens'. Their
goal is to start with one egg and trade up for bigger and better things until the item and donations equate to the sum of $1million AUS.

100% of this money will then be divided equally between the following charities:
30% to the environment via 'Cool Australia'
30% to health via 'Traditional Healthcare'
30% to poverty via 'Orphfund'
The remaining 10% will be used to set up 1Egg1World as a charity of its own.

The 'chickens' at '1Egg1World' are now onto their 10th trade which is where Prize Winning Artist Craig Ruddy and Gallery One come in.

Craig Ruddy (trader #9) has kindly traded his 2011 Archibald Prize Finalist portrait of Cathy Freeman in return for the 8th trade - a trip for 2 to Africa.

It is nowGallery One's happy task to help Craig and 1Egg1World find trader #10, who will become the proud owner of the 2011 Cathy Freeman Archibald portrait!

"Don't miss out on the opportunity to own one of the greatest Australian masterpieces of our time."

Craig Ruddy won the Archibald Prize in 2004 with his portrait of David Gulpilil, which sold for $312,000. In 2010 Ruddy also won The People's Choice Award with his portrait of Warwick Thornton. This piece now resides in the Gold Coast City Art Gallery and is valued at approximately $80,000.

Cathy Freeman in addition to being one of the world's greatest athletes, is also the only Australian to have won both the Young Australian of The Year and Australian of the Year Awards. The UK Newspaper - 'The Guardian' recently named her in the top 100 most inspiring women in the world. Cathy Freeman said of Craig's portrait: "It is the first time somebody has truly captured my spirit"

This painting is now available!

Gallery One who represents Craig Ruddy's work in Queensland is now offering this beautiful and highly collectable artwork to the public for sale (or trade) in aid of this truly worthwhile cause.

1Egg1World are open to your trade ideas and will also accept money in return for the painting. The piece is currently valued at approximately $55,000.

The Australian grassroots charities who will benefit from this initiative are:

Cool Australia - Cool Australia's primary focus is 'Cool Schools'. A free online curriculum for all things to do with the environment. Their goal is for the curriculum to be part of every primary school student's education.

Orphfund- run entirely by volunteers, 100% of what is donated to Orphfund goes directly to the cause. Orphfund builds schools and orphanages for some of the most disadvantaged chidren in the world.

Traditional Healthcare - builds sustainable health clinics in some of the most remote and disadvantaged communities around the world. Traditional Healthcare adopts a holistic approach, incorporating permaculture, sustainable architectural design and energy and water collection into every clinic.

Gallery One is a state-of-the-art contemporary fine art gallery on the Gold Coast in Queensland. For further information, please contact us at 61 7 55768888

UCLA life scientists' study of abalone yields new insights into sexual reproduction

They are the first scientists to do so. By simulating the natural habitat of the abalone in the laboratory, the scientists were able to determine the conditions under which sperm–egg encounters and fertilization were most likely to occur. "If we can understand the basic physics, ...
