Capital Sign Solutions Provides Comprehensive Sign Package for Kenan Memorial Stadium's Blue Zone

Raleigh sign company provides pieces for UNC's football stadium's end zone expansion.

2011-12-21
RALEIGH, NC, December 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) Capital Sign Solutions has recently completed several signage pieces for Kenan Memorial Stadium's newly-opened Blue Zone—the stadium's recent end zone expansion that was completed in August 2011 at a cost of $70 million. Capital Sign Solutions worked closely with Tar Heel Athletic Hospitality to create a comprehensive sign solution which included menu signage, bar menu and bar rules signage, entry/exit policy signage, interior tabletop signage, and seating area policy signage.

Kenan Memorial Stadium is home to University of North Carolina football. With a seating capacity of 63,000, it is considered one of the most picturesque athletic venues in America. The stadium has been home of the Tar Heels since 1927 and remained largely unchanged until a multi-year renovation plan began in 1995 which included the Frank H. Kenan Football Center and the North Side Stadium Preferred Seating Box.

Lizzie Stewart is the Director of Tar Heel Athletic Hospitality and works for The Colonnade Group, a sports/event management company headquartered in Birmingham, AL. In her role, she is responsible for the management and operations of all premium seating areas associated with football, men's basketball, and baseball. Stewart said that she heard about Capital Sign Solutions through her fiance (who is a longtime friend of the company's owner, Patrick Mills). After hearing Mills discuss another business' signage at a party, she decided to contact him to assist her with the upcoming football season. Because the Blue Zone was a new venue, Stewart says that a key component to the design was flexibility.

"Capital Sign Solutions helped me come up with a great design for the signage, understanding that it was the first year of operating the Blue Zone, so the signage package would have to be adjustable throughout the season and somewhat temporary as we learned how the building operated with all 3,000 guests inside of it," explains Stewart. "Patrick and his company were very successful in helping us create an overall signage package that improved the ticket holder experience in the Blue Zone."

Stewart says that she was very satisfied with the work and the signs created by Capital Sign Solutions and that she is looking forward to continuing to work with the company for many years to come.

"As we plan and prepare for next football season, I look forward to working with Capital Sign Solutions on installing more permanent signage, as well as working with them from year to year as we will reprint menu signage each season," adds Stewart.
