Pardee Homes Celebrates Holidays with Enduring Tradition of Delivering Gifts and Good Cheer to San Diego Area Families

Combining financial and volunteer resources, the ninth consecutive Pardee Holiday Giving program benefited families, children and single mothers with donations to Military Outreach, BIA Cares and HomeAid Home Start Shelter in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO, CA, December 23, 2011

Pardee Homes is reaching out to three separate local organizations in San Diego to bring holiday cheer to children, military families and transitionally homeless mothers and their babies. Employee volunteer efforts and corporate funds will provide food, gifts and construction services as part of the Pardee corporate holiday giving program.

"Giving back to the communities in which it builds is an enduring tradition at Pardee Homes, especially during the holidays," said Mike McGee, president and chief executive officer of Pardee Homes. "We are committed to continuing a tradition we started eight years ago of bypassing the corporate holiday party and making an extra special effort to reach out to those who need some extra good cheer."
Combining financial and volunteer resources, the ninth consecutive Holiday Giving benefits the temporarily homeless, underprivileged children, needy families and teens, military families and others identified by each of Pardee's regional offices.

Monies used in lieu of the luncheons represent all of Pardee's offices in California and Nevada. Each regional office chose how and where to allocate available resources with an emphasis on donating to HomeAid shelters.

In San Diego, the company will be making the season bright for a number of families through three organizations. Included in Pardee's 'Santa bag' is a donation of $500 to the Military Outreach to assist with their annual dinner that feeds 400 military families. The company has also donated $750 for the purchase of ten bicycles and helmets for distribution to deserving children through the BIA Cares 2011 Bike Drive (www.biasandiego.org). BIA Cares is the charitable foundation of the Building Industry Association of San Diego, which for the past 15 years has spearheaded the highly successful BIA Cares Holiday Bike Drive. Over the years, BIA Cares has provided bikes to more than 6,400 underprivileged children and to 65 different charities in San Diego County. Last year the BIA raised over $16,000 from individual member and corporate donations to purchase bikes that were given to 18 different charities and toy drives throughout San Diego.

The remaining holiday funds in Pardee's San Diego division, nearly $2,000, will go to HomeAid San Diego's Home Start Shelter for young single mothers and their babies. Pardee employee volunteers have shopped for basics and wish list items for the moms and their babies. Remaining funds will be used to assist with the completion of the shelter remodeling project.

According to Beth Fischer, division president for Pardee Homes' San Diego region, the holiday giving program has become a bright spot in the corporate culture of the company, allowing employees to celebrate the spirit of the season and the company's on going commitment to supporting the communities in which we build. "The giving spirit is alive and well all year at Pardee Homes, but during the holidays, our efforts have special meaning knowing we are helping feed families and provide gifts for deserving children," said Fischer.

Pardee's Inland Empire division is helping Olive Crest Children's Ranch in Perris which provides housing for abused and neglected at risk children and their families. See http://www.homeaid.org and http://www.olivecrest.org.

In Pardee Homes' LA/Ventura region, recipients are Carousel Ranch in Santa Clarita, which provides therapeutic riding programs for the disabled, RAIN Project Transitional Living Center in Camarillo which provides housing and training for independent living and the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry. Pardee employees participated in the Angel Tree program, which provided individual gifts to nearly 60 residents, hosted a book drive and professional clothing drive, and presented a check for $3,000 to the RAIN Program Transitional Living Center. In Las Vegas, help was provided to The Shade Tree shelter for homeless and abused women and children in crisis and HomeAid Southern Nevada..
