HAVEN, KS, January 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Fallen Warrior Foundation has scheduled its first fundraiser to benefit survivng spouses and children of our fallen soldiers. The much-anticipated announcement was made just prior to the New Year and is an event that everyone should mark on his or her calendar. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fallen Warrior Foundation.
The Foundation itself is an offshoot of the American Hero T-Shirt company. The initial idea was to sell patriotic t-shirts commemorating or memorializing specific events in United States military history. The t-shirts were such a success that American Hero was able to launch the Fallen Warrior Foundation shortly thereafter. Thus far, the new foundation has been received positively and support is flowing in from across the country.
A benefit such as this is a great way to support the families of soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. This inaugural event will be held at the American Legion Hall, 816 N. Water Street, Wichita, KS. The Foundation has already secured National Headlining Comedian Jeff Burghart for entertainment and expects to announce several other "special guests" in the upcoming days.
Tickets for the event are priced reasonably at $65 per couple. There are also numerous sponsor packages available, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Each package includes passes for the event and different levels of sponsorship advertising. Please visit the website for complete details regarding the event.
About: The Fallen Warrior Foundation helps military families recover from the greatest loss of all, a loved one who has given his or her life for our country. The Foundation provides various forms of aid and counseling to family members in an effort to make the transitional period as painless as possible during the most difficult times.

GABA signaling prunes back copious 'provisional' synapses during neural circuit assembly
2012-01-05
Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. – Quite early in its development, the mammalian brain has all the raw materials on hand to forge complex neural networks. But forming the connections that make these intricate networks so exquisitely functional is a process that occurs one synapse at a time. An important question for neuroscience has been: how exactly do stable synapses form? How do nerve cells of particular types know which of their cortical neighbors to "synapse" with, and which to leave out of their emerging networks?
