Central Pennsylvania Foreclosures and Delinquencies Increasing

Distressed homeowners may need a Harrisburg foreclosure defense lawyer.

HARRISBURG, PA, February 24, 2012

Many Pennsylvania homeowners are falling behind on mortgage payments, according to recent real estate figures released by CoreLogic. Pennsylvania's foreclosure rate was approximately 2.6 percent in November, compared with 2.35 percent for 2010. Pennsylvania 90-day mortgage delinquencies are on the rise, too, increasing from 5.46 percent to 5.76 percent over the same period.

Homeowners throughout central Pennsylvania are having an especially difficult time making timely mortgage payments and avoiding foreclosure. The Harrisburg-Carlisle area suffered a 5 percent increase in foreclosures from 2010 to 2011, but York-Hanover fared even worse, as its foreclosure rate nearly rose 7.5 percent. Lebanon homeowners have suffered the most, however, as the area's foreclosure rate soared 14 percent higher than a year earlier.

Not surprisingly, Harrisburg-Carlisle, York-Hanover and Lebanon have all suffered increases in mortgage delinquencies, too. These numbers indicate a troubling combination of economic issues that have simultaneously impacted central Pennsylvanians, including unemployment, salary and wage cuts and medical debt. Unfortunately, these financial struggles have been compounded by a rise in the cost of living, tied closely to ballooning fuel prices.

At Boyle, Autry & Murphy, our attorneys help homeowners explore all their legal options to stop foreclosure. Some Pennsylvanians save their home from foreclosure through Chapter 7 bankruptcy, while others stop foreclosure by negotiating with their lenders. In instances involving multiple mortgages, a mortgage "strip-off" may be available. In some unique situations, the bank may have even made a mistake when recording the deed. In all foreclosure situations, you need an experienced Harrisburg area foreclosure lawyer to help you examine and pursue ways to save your home.

Boyle, Autry & Murphy is committed to helping people and businesses in central Pennsylvania overcome their financial struggles related to foreclosure, including bankruptcy and mortgage strip-offs.
