2012-03-05
SINGAPORE, March 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) 3D International debuts VisuZ CLD - its detachable CHROMATIC LIGHT DEFLECTOR filter that delivers glasses free, 3D images to supported LCD/LED screens. VisuZ will also be exhibited at the Developers Gaming Conference 2012 in San Francisco on March 5th, 2012 as well as CeBIT, Hanover Germany on March 6th, 2012.

CHROMATIC LIGHT DEFLECTOR is a patent pending Optical element that dramatically improves the brightness, clarity, and improved transitioned viewing angle, of displaying 3D images - glasses free. Using a patent pending way of shaping light across glass, 3D images are created through an optical element that the company has developed. CHROMATIC LIGHT DEFLECTOR enables consistent high quality images over an extended time, as it is able to absorb heat without changing its optical properties - unlike some competing plastic lenses. Now this is available for the first time in a detachable filter so that the user can switch between 2D and 3D by simply lifting the filter that is secured to the LCD/LED screen with a magnet.

"With this release, 3D International is poised to accelerate its market penetration as the leading hardware and software glasses free 3D solution in the marketplace. Using 2nd generation Intel CoreTM processors, it showcases the power of delivering HD content at significant brilliance that is labelled a "wow" factor. We are now seeing some increased traction with some large customers and prospects for the gaming industry worldwide. Used in conjunction with our VisuZ Game Driver, the VisuZ CLD product line is the new standard for playing games in 3D effortlessly" said Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Manaf, Executive Chairman of 3D International.

Flying jewels spell death for baby spiders
2012-03-05
Spider flies are a rarely collected group of insects. Adults are considered important pollinators of flowers, while larvae live as internal parasitoids of juvenile spiders. Eight genera are recorded in Australasia, including four genera in the subfamily Panopinae, a group of large, hairy, often metallic coloured adults whose larvae specialize as parasitizing mygalomorph spiders such as tarantulas, trap door and funnel web spiders. In this study, four new species of the genus Panops are described from Australia. These flies typically have large round bodies covered with ...

Diabetes risk from sitting around

2012-03-05
A new study has found that women who stay seated for long periods of time every day are more prone to developing type 2 diabetes, but that a similar link wasn't found in men. Researchers from the University of Leicester Departments of Health Sciences and Cardiovascular Sciences revealed that women who are sedentary for most of the day were at a greater risk from exhibiting the early metabolic defects that act as a precursor to developing type 2 diabetes than people who tend to sit less. The team assessed over 500 men and women of the age of 40 or more about the amount ...

Anyone who goes to their doctor for a blood test generally has to wait a few days for the results. But this time of uncertainty can make patients anxious – especially in critical cases, such as a possible HIV infection. The fact that it takes so long for laboratories to analyze samples is in no small part due to all the cumbersome paperwork: Each sample must be accompanied by meticulous records, so lab technicians are obliged to write a lengthy report including the patient's details, the results of the analysis and the testing methods employed. This is a time-consuming ...

UK scientists develop optimum piezoelectric energy harvesters

2012-03-05
Scientists working as part of the Metrology for Energy Harvesting Project have developed a new model to deliver the maximum power output for piezoelectric energy harvesters. Piezoelectric materials convert electrical energy into a strain (or vice-versa). The best known use of piezoelectricity is for medical ultrasound. Piezoelectric energy harvesters utilise energy from unwanted mechanical vibrations, such as the rattling of an air conditioning duct or the movement of a bridge with passing traffic. Power levels are small, usually a few milli-watts or less, but the scavenged ...
