The Campus Answers Charges of Elitism
"Have not's need not apply"
CHICAGO, IL, March 22, 2012
There has been a growing amount of gossip about the fact that the Campus - a private youth leadership program for youths 18 to 30 - only accepts the children of "Affluent" business owners. The fact is that many business owners can afford to give their children the advantages that are being reserved for a significantly smaller group of potential students. So the question remains, "Why does The Campus only admit affluent business owners children when they could be open to everyone?"
We asked the president of the corporation that controls this "Advanced Life Skills" program, Dr. Paul McDowell.
McDowell stated that the Campus program is typically offered to the children of royal families, the families of the global elite and occasionally to the children of other recommended or personal referred individuals. Training for those programs is conducted from a mobile platform in the country and location that the client chooses. And the fee is $250,000 per child plus costs." At this price, The Campus has been very popular among the global elite.
McDowell also said, "We have decided to acquire a more centralized facility and use the cost savings gained by consolidating our program costs to enable us to reduce the enrollment fees substantially. We recognize that we are currently in a cycle where the entrepreneurs that started businesses are now relying on their grandchildren to run them. This is a condition where the businesses that made America financially strong are now in the hands of people that were not around when they were created. This is known as the "Third Generation Problem" and it costs businesses their life on a daily basis. The Campus can help, but we only admit children of the affluent business owner. When pressed about supporting the children of small business owners; McDowell was unapologetic; saying we have had little success with the commitment of any other group of participants. They just don't work hard enough at success."
As controversial as that sounds, it is easy to see how such an intense immersion program could be overwhelming to any child that doesn't truly value the concept of "working hard for their future success". The program runs seven days a week for six months in a "secure campus setting". It only admits sixty participants in each program and the code of conduct reflects the level of leader that it is designed to produce.
When we asked McDowell if he would consider admitting a child from parents of a lower economic tier, he said, "It would have to be a very rare exception. Our program is transformative and the level of immersion is extraordinarily intense. Since we only have 60 seats open and a world market to serve, every seat must be filled with someone that will not quit in month three because their girlfriend left them or they miss their WII."
The Campus program offers no certification, degree or other instrument of accomplishment other than a "Certificate of Attendance" and a ring if the participant so desires. So, why would someone pay such a high price to send a young adult there after high school?
McDowell offered this, "The Campus is not a college program nor is it a college prep school. The Campus provides the other life skills that a student will need during that other 19 hours that they are not in class. The skills that are transferred at The Campus provides our participants with the family secret of the most successful monarch's in history and the ability to complete the 'Royal Journey' - a four phase process that develops exceptional world leaders. They can get degrees from any college or university without focus or commitment, but they cannot complete The Campus unless they can aspire to a higher code of conduct, core values and show an ability to bring those elements into their daily life. We train young leaders, not engineers, secretaries, scientists or fast food counter help."
There is a webinar that the company conducts for those who are interested and want to see if they qualify to send their children to the program. McDowell stated that the program will begin in September 2012 at their new facility.
