MIRI, MALAYSIA, April 21, 2012 (Press-News.org) Jazz enthusiasts visiting Malaysia are to be treated to a celebration of the musical genre when the Borneo Jazz 2012 festival taken place in Miri this May.

Organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board, the event will be held at the ParkCity Everly Hotel and will see eight international acts performing in a range of jazz styles on May 11th and 12th.

Veteran American artist Maria Muldaur - who has been active since the 1960s - will be the headline attraction of the 2012 programme, with four different acts to play on each of the two nights.

Accompanying the music itself will be a craft bazaar, a food and village mart and a musical expo, while a special Borneo Jazz store will also be open, offering themed merchandise and records by the participating artists, which fans can get signed if they choose.

Proceedings get underway at 18:00 local time on both evenings, running through until midnight, with adult tickets available online now for 63 ringgits (GBP12.90).

Sarawak Tourism Board is hoping the event will become the leading tourism-driven music festival in the region.
